After years of ownership under SFX Entertainment and LiveStyle, Disco Donnie Presents has returned to its original, independent status.
It was over two decades ago that James “Disco Donnie” Estopinal began throwing events under the Disco Donnie Presents flag. Known for delivering some of the biggest and best parties in the country from their original home in New Orleans, they’ve been a perennial powerhouse in the dance music scene.
Over the years, Disco Donnie Presents was a frequent collaborator with other promoters as well. They notably partnered up with Pasquale Rotella and Insomniac Events at the turn of the century to bring festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival to Puerto Rico and Orlando, along with other brands like Nocturnal Wonderland and countless club shows as well.
In 2012, Disco Donnie looked to Robert Sillerman and his newly created SFX Entertainment as the next big partnership, leading to them becoming the first to be added to the growing roster of promoters. SFX Entertainment went bankrupt and rebranded as LiveStyle in 2016, and now, Disco Donnie Presents has returned to its original, independent status after repurchasing the company.
“What type of crazy person buys back their events company in the middle of a worldwide pandemic?” said DDP founder and CEO, James “Disco Donnie” Estopinal, Jr. when asked about the purchase. But after years of experience working alongside other major players in the dance music and festival scene, it’s clear that he’s prepared to become a true force to be reckoned with.
The portfolio for Disco Donnie Presents is strong with brands like Ubbi Dubbi, Sunset Music Festival, and Freaky Deaky under its umbrella. While festivals as a whole might be on notice for some time to come, they intend to weather the storm and continue to give back to the community as much as possible through their philanthropic efforts and initiatives like R.A.V.E. (Register And Vote Everywhere).
Stay tuned for more to come from DDP as they explore their newfound freedom in the realm of live events.
