Ultra Music Festival has revealed the details for Resistance Cove, an all-new house and techno focused area for the festival’s return to Bayfront Park in 2020.
Although the 2019 edition of Ultra Music Festival on Virginia Key had its pros and cons, one thing that drew plenty of praise was the new Resistance Island. The home of Ultra’s house and techno brand, Resistance is a major attraction for attendees from all over the world. Now, for the festival’s return to Bayfront, Ultra has announced a brand new stage called Resistance Cove.
More details on Resistance Cove are on the way, but we’ve obtained a bit of information about this new stage and we can’t wait to see it in action.
We now know that Resistance Cove will be situated on the northern perimeter of Ultra Miami’s newly revamped festival layout. According to the organizers, Resistance Cove will be a stage nestled underneath palm trees between Biscayne Bay and Biscayne Boulevard. The UMF Radio stage was always a favorite of mine and surrounded by palm trees in this area, so it would make sense for Resistance Cove to be in a similar spot.

Art installations, interactive experiences, and impressive production will accompany Resistance’s stellar lineup of artists for 2019.
Before last year at Virginia Key, Resistance was just one stage in the corner of the festival with a takeover of the megastructure for two days of the festival as well. In 2019, Resistance expanded to three stages, and it sounds like Ultra’s new setup at Bayfront Park will carry forward some of the elements that made last year’s Resistance unique. Ultra promises to “capture the vibe and spirit of Resistance Island”.
What once seemed like a dream is now reality: after nearly leaving the Miami area entirely, Ultra Music Festival is making its return downtown. Although I had a good experience at Virginia Key, one of the things that made Ultra so special was the Bayfront location and the proximity of the stages. I can’t wait to be back again to check out everything Ultra Music Festival and Resistance have to offer.
