What was your first electronic music event?
Okeechobee Music Festival 2017
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
I’d been listening to a lot of EDM recently and a friend had told me about Okee previously. I really wanted to go to my first festival and I thought the lineup was perfect so I decided to send it! Also, my buddy Alex was going with his friends and he invited me to join their group so I didn’t have to go alone which was also a huge plus.
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
I’ll never forget when my newfound group told me I had to come with them to see Porter Robinson, who I had never heard of before. As soon as his set started I was hooked. It was the most beautiful thing I’d ever heard and I will cherish that set for the rest of my life.
What is your favorite festival or event?
BONNAROOOOOOOO
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
“Sad Machine” by Porter Robinson
It was one of the songs that stuck out to me the most from when I first saw him. I can’t explain why but it speaks to me so much and I can’t help but feel happy whenever I listen to it.
Who are your favorite artists?
Porter Robinson, RL Grime, Rezz, Illenium, Seven Lions, Herobust, Zeds Dead, G Jones, Ganja White Knight.
What are your favorite genres?
I love all forms of EDM/electronic. I also really enjoy indie, alt-rock, psychedelic rock, post-hardcore, and electro-pop.
What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?
I’m just me. All the other music scenes I was involved in I felt like I had to be this specific type of person and I just never really felt like I fit in as much. But in the EDM scene, nobody cares. You can act as crazy and freely as you want and people still love and accept you. So I take full advantage of that and try to live life as myself as much as possible.
