What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
Like so many stories it began with a girl. My first love Krystal. She introduced me to the culture, it was very much alive and Poppin in the Midwest during the ’90s. We all traveled to Chicago, Detroit, and Pittsburgh. I was a teenager in love with a rebellious lil raver and I never turned back. We had JNCO and Kikwear floods on, hair who knows what color and Kandi up our arms with a Tigger on our back.
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
Father’s Day 2016, I was at EDC Las Vegas in Carnival Square watching the Cavs on my phone come back from a 1-3 deficit and I couldn’t help but scream once we finally had a championship brought back to CLE. I was rocking my Kyrie jersey and everyone was showing me love and even more so when they found it I was from there.
I’d never in my life wanted to go home back to Cleveland more than that night, because I knew everyone at home was in bliss. The Cavaliers were in town at XS and Drew Carey was down at kineticFIELD. It was a magical night and I’ll never forget how I felt. Ironically I missed the parade on Wednesday due to fatigue from EDCLV, I slept right through the damn thing.
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
Impossible to really choose, but if I had to pick one, I’d say “One More Time” by Daft Punk. It’s the one that always takes me back to being a kid, its held the test of time, a pure classic.
Who are your favorite artists?
Kaskade, Lane 8, deadmau5, Daft Punk, Pretty Lights, Above & Beyond, Porter Robinson, Luttrell, RL GRIME, Diplo, and ODESZA.
What are your favorite genres?
House, deep house, tropical house, progressive, trance, psytrance, and some bass.
What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?
A fortune soul. I was born during a civil war in the early ’80s in El Salvador, became an orphan at three weeks old and was lucky enough to to be adopted by some of the greatest parents one could have. Minus the horrible Ohio winters, I’ve lived a life that many only wish they could live a day in. I’ve traveled and met so many great people from all parts of the planet, I couldn’t have asked for a better life and experience. I truly am a lucky man to have so many great people in my life.
Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself for the readers?
Love one another, be patient and reflect. Life isn’t always easy, it’s going to be really hard sometimes, but everything is gonna be ok if u stay positive and surround yourself with positive people. Learn to let go and never forget you’re never too old for a good time and one more thing, if you’re feeling down, just dance… No one ever dances when they’re sad.
