G.E.M. Releases Music Video for New Single "Woke"

Chinese pop sensation G.E.M. has released a music video for the lead single off her latest EP Fearless. Watch the stunning video for “Woke” now!

Award-winning global pop star and Mending Kids Ambassador G.E.M. has released the first single from her second EP Fearless. The song, which is named “Woke”, brings her audience into the world of electronic music, and is paired perfectly with a music video that will have you hitting that replay button to catch all the details.

Shot in Taiwan by Birdy, the same director who shot G.E.M.’s music video for “Tik Tok”, it was the first time in ten years that she has taken on the role of producer, director, and actress. Working together on the music video, they produced it in just ten days, which is an astonishing feat but shows both of their passions for the music video’s release. The music video for “Woke” tells the story of two different sides of G.E.M. the “maniac” in the white room and the “numb” in the black room. Brought together only by the power of love, it shows how both sides of G.E.M. live in a harmonious nature.

“The maniac me in the music video represents that sometimes love can make one go crazy unconsciously and feel being misunderstood by the whole world, at that moment you will love unconditionally and wholeheartedly, and be willing to risk being hurt.” – G.E.M.

Released along with the single “Woke” and paired music video is the Fearless EP which acts as the second chapter of G.E.M.’s “Fairytale Trilogy” which is her conceptualized journey into sound. Aside from her work in the studio and as a performer, G.E.M. also made an appearance earlier this month at Stan Lee’s Shanghai Comic Universe convention at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition. There, she appeared on a panel and helped debut a new partnership with Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment, while it was also announced that a new Chinese female superhero was created with G.E.M. as the inspiration!
