AIM Experience returns to Montreal for the third year running on July 14-16 to bring you the best in house, progressive, and trance!
As the summer festival season kicks in top gear, AIM is proud to organise the third edition of the AIM Experience in the Carillon Parc & Historic Site around one hour from downtown Montreal. If you wish to attend an event that stays as far away as possible from mainstream performers, then look no further.
This year, the event hosts three distinct stages focusing on tech-house, deep house, house and progressive, as well as trance. The focus is on artists that are well established and respected within each scene as well showcasing Canada’s local talent. This is the first time I’ll attend the show, however, I’m already convinced this will be an amazing experience given the artists. To help you out, I put together a list of my must-see acts below!

Sebastian’s Top Picks at AIM Experience 2017
Simon Patterson
Simon Patterson has been around the trance scene for almost 15 years now. He has established himself as a headliner at every event he takes part of. It’s without a doubt that when it comes to AIM Experience, he’s the biggest trance name on the roster.
Patterson evolved from a tech-trance DJ and producer into one of the most respected people in the industry. His excellent taste in techno, trance, and psy-trance make for an extremely versatile experience every time that he’s behind the decks. With great performances at EDC Las Vegas as well as the trance mecca that is Luminosity under the books this month, Simon will no doubt bring the heat to Montreal.
The Thrillseekers
Steve Helstrip, better known by his artist name The Thrillseekers, is a cornerstone of the trance scene, a constant bearing in a sea of permanent changes. Whether you listen to him in 1998 or in 2017, one word immediately pops to mind: TRANCE.
2016 marked the release of his much-anticipated debut album. Since then, he’s been back at work in the studio creating new material. However, if you think you’ll hear only new music, you’ll be in for a surprise. The Thrillseekers always blends new and old productions flawlessly, creating a lasting impression on the crowd.
He’s one of the few DJs that can keep you on the edge of your seat all the time. I expect this time, it won’t be any different. You can also read our recent interview with Steve to find out more about him.
Guy J
When you think of progressive house, there’s only a handful of bigger names than Guy J. When Sasha throws his full support behind an artist, you know what you’re going to get: pure quality music.
Montreal is a familiar destination for Guy J. He performs at the mythical Stereo Afterhours club on a regular basis. In fact, for his last visit, he performed a 15-hour set alongside his friend and fellow producer Hernan Cattaneo. While he won’t play for that long this time around, his signature melodic and hypnotic take on the house genre will be one of the highlights of the festival.
Nic Fanciulli
When it comes to combining techno and house, look no further than Nic Fanciulli. You don’t get to remix the likes of Gorillaz and Radiohead without earning it through hard work.
Nic’s one of the last people that gained recognition through DJing alone. Others on the list include Carl Cox, Sasha, John Digweed, and John 00 Fleming just to name a few. This means that you’ll experience someone that has perfected the art of DJing. Crafting a musical journey is no easy feat, yet those attending his set will get to experience just that!
Solid Stone
When it comes to progressive, Solid Stone is Canada’s best-kept secret. For the longest time, Montreal was the primary location where people got to experience Solid Stone’s brilliance. However, all that changed last year when Armin Van Buuren booked him for his A State Of Trance 750 festival in Toronto.
He’s also a protege of Markus Schulz, who released his album on his famous Coldharbour label last year. If you want to hear techno, tech-house, progressive and trance in one set, then there’s no other choice.
