What was your first electronic music event?
My first EDM event was Nocturnal 2010 at the NOS Center. I had no idea what to expect, but I went in there with an open mind and here I am years later loving our community and enjoy each event like it was my first. The vibes and interactions I experienced that day will be ones that I will never forget and I cherish always.
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
My boyfriend at the time wanted me to go to EDC, but I figured I’d crawl before I run with events. We both agreed that Nocturnal would be perfect for our first festival together since our birthdays were both in September and surrounding the days of Nocturnal. Thanks, Danny, wherever you are. Hope all is well and thank you for introducing me to this incredible community!
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
This moment actually comes from my first event. Feeling like a total “newb” and a bit insecure with my outfit, a girl saw me and said she loved my Hello Kitty outfit and traded my first ever kandi piece with me. That instantly put a bigger smile on my face than the Kool Aid guy. OH YEAH!! Now I try to provide that same experience with others at events.
What is your favorite festival or event?
I have been very fortunate to have attended and work many various festivals, however, I have to say that the last festival I worked has been hands down my favorite. EDC Mexico 2017 brought new experiences for me in my personal life and my work life. My bosses, fellow supervisor, and staff were incredible! Throughout the event, vibes were pure, smiles were big and hearts were filled with joy!
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
There are so many to choose from and it is hard to just choose one, however, Calvin Harris’ “Feel So Close” would have to be my favorite. I love the song so much that I have an illustration to one of the song lyrics tattooed on my shoulder. I have a heart with a clef note in it and the words “Like A Big Deal” surrounding for like the song lyric, “I wear my heart upon my sleeve, like a big deal.” This song puts me in the best of moods and is a song that I have a lot great personal memories attached to
Who are your favorite artists?
This list is constantly changing! Right now I would say, Gorgon City, Zhu, Marshmello, Flume, Porter Robinson, Wasted Penquinz, Kayzo, Major Lazer … I could literally go on and on.
What are your favorite genres?
Just as with my favorite artist, genres are always forever changing. Right now I am in a very house and all subgenres of house music and hardstyle! 180 of each other, I know [Laughs]!
What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?
I’m the wanderer. Not the when your friend tells you, “Hey, say here I’m going to get water.” and you walk away wanderer, but in the sense that I bounce back in forth from attending and working. I love both, for both have a very special place in my heart. I have met and loved some of the most amazing people in the EDM Community. If it wasn’t for them and the experiences I have had with them, my life would be absolutely different and I won’t even fathom my life without them.
At the end of the day, I am simply grateful to be a part of this happy music-loving family that wants the best for each other and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself for the readers?
All that I ask is for everyone to love themselves and each other <3
