When you think of Hardwell, you think of huge main stage sets of his signature big room house, but this week on Diplo and Friends he shows us another side of his musical abilities.
Mad Decent label owner and industry giant, Diplo, has featured everyone from Marshmello, to NGHTMRE, to Kygo on his radio show as guest mixers. The show airs on BBC Radio’s 1 Xtra, giving many artists crucial exposure that helps garner support of fans and launch their careers. Hardwell, however, is anything but a small name in the industry, winning DJ Mag’s #1 DJ of the year in both 2013 and 2014. He’s headlined countless festivals and sold out show after show. One might expect to hear the newest big-room tracks and maybe some unreleased gold from the Dutch DJ, but he goes in a different direction with this guest mix.
In this week’s mix, Hardwell get’s back to his Dutch roots in the Bubbling Beats movement with some funky tunes including tracks like Gyptian, Mr. Vegas, Popcorn, and many more. He’ll keep you grooving the entire hour with old and new school dancehall that he grew up playing.
Back in the days I started out as a hip hop and dancehall dj. I was part of a movement in Holland called Bubbling Beats. Through Bubbling Beats I met Diplo and that’s why he asked me to do this special mix for you all. – Hardwell
The mix aired this past Sunday. Look below to stream the mix and get your fill of moombahton, R&B, and UK grime.

After releasing the guest mix, Hardwell went on to have a day at Creamfields festival in the UK, playing the Horizon stage along with artists like Oliver Heldens, Galantis, and Tiësto. While he was playing at Horizon, Revealed Recordings hosted its own arena at the festival. What a hectic weekend for the powerhouse DJ!
