Often times its the EDC trailers that create the most FOMO for EDC hopefuls and future headliners to the point that people save up for months to join their friends underneath the electric sky. The Insomniac team has done a tremendous job each year, persuading more and more people to be a part of the experience that is EDC.
In celebration of #EDC20, I have hand selected two of the trailers that have affected me the most due to the timing as well as the videography itself.
Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas 2012
Friday, Saturday & Sunday ::: June 8 – 10, 2012
I will always hold EDC 2012 closest to my heart, as it was my first EDC I ever attended. I was twenty years old, just shy of twenty one by about a week and as a birthday gift my boyfriend at the time surprised me with EDC tickets. As one could imagine I was beyond excited and trust me at that that point of time he was the best “rave bae” a girl could ask for. For the months leading up to the event I would re-watch this trailer over and over, religiously counting down the days. I would show it to other people and to my boyfriend multiple times, lucky for me he shared the same passion as I had for electronic dance music.
As I watched the trailer the lights and colors all dazzled me as I imagined being able to hop among the light up lily pads and experience these mega stages for myself. This trailer not only invoked my excitement for the event, but also the appreciation I had for my loved one at the time and how this event was a way for us to connect.
Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas 2014
Friday, Saturday & Sunday ::: June 20 – 22, 2014
It’s just something about Adventure Club’s “Yuna” that always brings me back to EDC 2014’s trailer and the vision and love Insomniac’s Pasquale Rotella has for EDC. No matter where you are in life EDC serves as an escape from the stresses of home and creates an immersive environment that fosters friendship and love. This is apparent by the smiling faces and ceremonies, as well as the emphasis on heart over all.
“…live in the moment, have a unique experience, and meet new people.They’re happy, life is about being happy.” – Pasquale Rotella
It’s simple at EDC, once you get onto speedway all that you have to do is have a good time and dance under the electric sky from dusk to dawn. And remember “don’t follow the hype, follow your heart.” as an EDC Headliner says.
For those of you involved in the making of the trailers and/or a part of Insomniac’s experience makers, I’d like to thank you for curating such a unique experience and making EDC what it is today.
