What was your first electronic music event?
First time I ever experienced EDM in a massive setting was Coachella 2010. I was there for all the hip hop and rock acts and a friend told me to meet him at the Sahara tent. I walked into Bassnectar opening his set and was hooked from the second I heard the bass kick in on the sound system.
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
I had just gone through a bad breakup and my roommate (who had been raving for a couple years) looked at me and said ‘I know what will make you feel better’. Ended up seeing (the then relatively-unknown) Diplo at an airport banquet hall with like 500 people.
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
Any event I get to spend time with my best friends is special. My buddy who got me into the scene actually flew back for EDC LV this year and it was awesome being able to party with him again.
What is your favorite festival or event?
Coachella and Burning Man. Nothing touches those two festivals for me.
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
Strobe by Deadmau5. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it even to this day.
Who are your favorite artists?
Anything bass! Right now I’m listening to artists like Excision, Slander, Brillz, Party Favor, Sullivan King…I love the low end sounds.
What are your favorite genres?
Did I mention I like bass music? :)
What do you feel your “identity” is in the electronic music community?
Damn that’s a tough one. I like to think of myself as a responsible and positive EDM-enthusiast. I think just going to an event is only half of it – how you interact with others and how you add to the experience is what it’s all about to me. I like to make sure everyone I’m with and around is having a good time.
Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself for the readers?
Enjoy the scene! It won’t be around forever. This is our movement and we should all enjoy and cherish it.
Also, shout out to Mama Unicorn! (that’s my gf)
