What was your first electronic music event?
My first electronic event was Electric Daisy Carnival 2012 in Las Vegas.
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
I would say it was a mix between one of my best friends and the guy I was dating at the time. My friend and me had started to listen to the music when my boyfriend had showed us EDC. We decided we would go the next year.
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
This year my current boyfriend and me were attending our first festival together, Electric Forest. After an amazing weekend, we ended it seeing the artist I was most excited for, Paul Oakenfold. We got a blanket from the tent, sat in the grass wrapped up in it and met some great people. It was such a simple moment, but one that meant so much to me.
What is your favorite festival or event?
So far out of the ones I have been to, Electric Forest was definitely my favorite. It’s an amazing atmosphere and a beautiful venue with so much to discover in the middle of the forest. There’s something for everyone, not just electronic music. It’s so diverse, I started my day with a bass set, had lunch at a little stage while watching a girl sing like Janis Joplin, then was able to go to my favorite stage and see an awesome electro swing set. Not to mention the food is amazing and it’s the most kind and generous crowd I’ve ever come across.
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
I’m not sure I can call just one song my favorite, but if I absolutely had to choose, I think it would be Every Other Way by BT. I’m a huge sucker for anything with good vocals and it’s a beautiful song that never feels rushed, like the typical big room house. BT takes his time with it and draws it out. It’s the perfect song for just laying down with a pair of headphones and hearing all the little details he puts into it.
Who are your favorite artists?
My favorite artists include Above & Beyond, Oceanlab, Dada Life, Gareth Emery, Dash Berlin, and Sunlounger.
What are your favorite genres?
Any trance genre, but vocal trance is the best. The past year, my boyfriend has also helped get me into liquid drum n’ bass, which I’ve been absolutely loving. Though progressive house will always hold a special place in my heart.
What do you feel your “identity” is in the electronic music community?
Although I would love to learn to shuffle, as of now, I just go to enjoy the music and dance. My friends started calling the the Energizer Bunny because I would be able to dance the whole night. I also love helping people I see and making sure everything is okay and being safe.
Is there anything else you would like to add about yourself for the readers?
Nope!
