Summer Set Music Festival 2015 || Grant’s Top 15 Artists

Grant Gilmore
Summer Set Music Festival 2015

Sound In Motion’s Four Day festival and camping event, Summer Set Music Festival, is quickly approaching. Summer Set Music Festival’s 2015 lineup is reflective of the current state of popular music throughout the country.  SIM Shows has definitely pulled out all of the stops in bringing the top Hip Hop and EDM acts to Wisconsin!

These are my 15 must see artists for this upcoming weekend:

Friday

  • Bassnectar: This is the second time that Bassnectar has graced my top artists list for Summer Set Music Festival and it is definitely well deserved. A repeat headliner from last year but with plenty of new music and fans that are loyal as ever, Lorin will definitely be an act not to miss this year! Feel free to bring a flashlight so you can find your face after it melts off during his set.
  • Keys N Krates: Drums, Keyboards, and Turntables all come together for Keys N Krates. They aren’t 100% trap, but incorporate a variety of music in their sets. One of my favorite tracks from them is their massive hit “Dum Dee Dum”, which premiered on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 Show. Keys N Krates is yet another amazing live act that will get you dancing throughout the entire set.
  • Odesza: I’ll admit it, I originally missed the boat on Odesza. They seemed to rise into popularity out of nowhere and I missed out on their beginnings. Successful in part due to The Do Lab at Coachella, Odesza definitely has been on a mission to take over the festivals circuit this season. They have had sets at pretty much every major festival this year, and I’d highly suggest catching them at Summer Set.
  • Haywyre: Playing during Dead Rocks was a treat for this new artist and I’m happy to see him on the lineup for Summer Set. He synthesizes the best of two musical genres, that of contemporary electronic, along with the more established traditions of classical and jazz. Using live instruments and performance videos only makes his shows more awesome, do no sleep on him!
  • Trippy Turtle: I love Trippy Turtle and have now seen him play at CRSSD Festival and Coachella 2015. His sets are chill and vibey, bringing that New Jersey Club sound that is unique to his sets at the moment. If you love hip-hop and r&b, I’d highly suggest checking him out too.

Saturday

  • Jauz:  This LA-based producer has taken the EDM Scene by storm over the past year. Jauz has released addictive mid-tempo originals like “Feel the Volume” and remixes like “Hella Hoes” that have turned into massive hits. He subscribes to the idea that there should be no genre boundaries and stays true to that concept with his releases.
  • Shiba San: Riding off the 2014 hit track “Okay”, this mysterious artist has been blowing up the house scene this year. Crossing over between roots in the Hip Hop community and embracing the “future house” sound, Shiba San has really expanded the Ghetto Funk genre beyond anyone’s dreams. Don’t sleep on him!
  • Big Gigantic: The second headliner that is repeating a spot this year. What’s crazy is that I have not heard ONE person complain about either returners due to the fact that they are both epic. Big Gigantic stole the show for me personally last year and I’m excited as ever to see them headlining on Saturday Night once again!
  • Tchami: Hailing from Paris, Tchami has begun his journey in the Future House spectrum. With a unique sound that is imitated by many but never recreated well, he’s going to have your booty shaking to the beat.
  • Brillz:  Brillz has been taking the bass scene over, hit after hit. He played an awesome set at Beyond Wonderland LA back in March and has continued to shine in the spotlight. Expect his heavy set to leave you breathless.
  • Giraffage: My first encounter with Giraffage was during CRSSD Festival this past March (Just like Trippy Turtle). His vibey sound is perfect to relax to during the daytime sets and he brings some awesome remixes and originals to the table. Hit track “Tell Me” is one of my favorites and shows that you sometimes simple beats are the best.

Sunday

  • Deadmau5: You are forced to see him, but trust me it will be worth it. I do not think I really need to explain much more about why Deadmau5 is on this list. Plus…he’s closing the festival and there is no way it isn’t going to be a show-stopper.
  • Zeds Dead: Dubstep is not dead. I just saw Zeds Dead MURDER a set at their show in Denver at Red Rocks. I cannot imagine not seeing them again and trust me…you will enjoy every minute of their set. The vibes are unreal and the bass will make you forget where you are.
  • Vaski: One of my favorite dubstep tracks was Vaski’s remix of “Might Like You Better”. He has since gone on to produce some trap and other great bass music. I’d highly suggest giving him a go because I’m sure that he will have everyone getting down and dirty to his set.
  • G-Eazy: Playing both a rapper and a producer is not the easiest thing in the world. G-Eazy does it in spectacular fashion. Hailing from Northern California, he gained recognition in the East Bay Area and has been associated with great acts like French Montana, E40, and A$AP Ferg.
