It’s almost time for all of us to reunite under the Electric Sky! Hopefully you’ve got your costumes, sleeping arrangements, transportation, and tickets squared away. Now it’s time to talk about the lineup. Although EDC focuses on the experience, and not necessarily the music, the lineup never disappoints. Here’s a list of my top 10 artists to see this year. Before I get into my list of Artists, I would like preface this with saying
AC Slater
I’ve never seen AC Slater live, but every time one of his songs randomly pops up on my iTunes, I catch myself nodding my head or shaking my butt a little. He’s hard to pin into one genre. His music has a bit of trap, dubstep, house, and deep house, either way I think he’s great and can’t wait to see him live!
Bassnectar
If you don’t like Bassnectar, we can’t be friends. PERIOD. Every time I listen him I feel like I’m on a virtual rollercoaster literally seeing sounds. His set will be more than just dope music to dance to, it’ll be an experience.
Calvin Harris
I’m going to sound like a total hipster music snob, but I’ve loved Calvin Harris long before he was that beautiful man posing for Armani with all of those number 1 hits. He’s just an amazing singer, songwriter, and producer, and I love every single one of his songs.
Disclosure
Disclosure’s was last summer’s up and coming artist. I think I’ve heard “Latch” 14,000 times last year. I’m a huge fan of their deep house sound, so I’m stoked to see the British brothers perform live. Hopefully this means they’ll be putting out a second album soon.
Duke Dumont
Keeping up with the British Deep House theme, Duke Dumont is another favorite of mine. If he performed a 17 hour set, I would gladly sit through all of it and dance the entire time. His songs “Need U (100%)” and “Won’t Look Back” fill me with an indescribable joy every time I hear them.
DJ Snake
I saw DJ Snake last year, and he was probably the most surprising performance. He’s much more than the “Turn Down For What” guy. His set had some great trap beats along with some decent House beats as well. I’m a huge of his remix of Alunageorge’s “You Know You Like it”.
Fatboy Slim
If I took a second to think about some of the first EDM songs I’ve ever heard, I would say a good chunk of them belong to Fatboy Slim. He is definitely a must see since he’s been around for so long.
Dyro
I’ve actually had the pleasure of meeting Dyro a few months ago in San Diego. He’s a very nice, and very humble guy, which makes me appreciate his music even more. Dyro definitely puts on a great set with awesome bass lines and amazing drops, he’s worth checking out this year.
Get Real
Saying I’m excited to see them is a HUGE understatement. This is the set that I HAVE to see, even if it means I have to leave my friends! Claude Vonstroke and Green Velvet are two of my all time favorites. I can only imagine the super cool techno/ghetto tech/deep house bundle of awesomeness Get Real will create for their set.
DJ Jazzy Jeff
So I caught a ton of flack when I listed him on my top 10 artists for Beyond Wonderland. No one believed DJ Jazzy Jeff would be worth seeing. As I said before, don’t judge a DJ by his 90’s sitcom. It turns out I was right, he absolutely murdered the Funk House stage at Beyond Wonderland. I’m so happy he’s going to be at EDC this year so I can see him in person.
