What was your first electronic music event?
Illenium at Terminal 5 in 2017.
What/who influenced you to attend your first event?
I reconnected with my Junior High School friend Daniel in 2016/17 and I would always see him post about Illenium. One day I decided to ask him who Illenium was and why he liked him so much. He explained melodic bass music to me and convince me to give Illenium a listen. After a couple of times listening to Illenium I asked Daniel if he was going to be around to catch a live show anytime soon. He told me he’d be at Terminal 5 in Manhattan so I figured if the tickets were cheap enough I’d go.
What is one moment from an event that was special and why?
Well, my first time seeing Illenium at Terminal 5 in Manhattan I noticed everyone around me got really emotional. So many people were crying and I didn’t understand why. To be honest I thought it was a little weird. But after a year of listening to his music really understanding the lyrics when I went to see him a second time I was just as bad as they were.
What is your favorite festival or event?
I just recently saw Illenium for the third time in Madison Square Garden. I’ve slowly been branching out to other artists recently. Seven Lions, Porter Robinson, Said the Sky, Dabin, and Adventure Club.
What is your favorite electronic song and why?
I would have to say “In Your Arms” by Illenium or possibly “Lose Myself” by Seven Lions.
Who are your favorite artists?
Like I said before Illenium is my favorite, Said The Sky, Dabin, Adventure Club, and Seven Lions. In terms of EDM, that’s pretty much where I’m at. Still pretty new to the game about three years and it’s taking me a while to branch out because Illenium is so good.
What are your favorite genres?
Melodic bass. Some Hardstyle. Old-school freestyle.
What do you feel your “Identity” is in the electronic music community?
My whole life I’ve struggled with worrying that people would like me. But I’ve noticed that three years into this community people are genuinely really nice. I haven’t had to worry about that recently. I feel like I can actually be myself.
