As if Okeechobee already doesn’t sound like a can’t miss event this upcoming March, the festival just announced they will be holding the Destination Okeechobee: Battle of the Bands Competition.  Rules are rather simple: Submit an electronic press kit via Sonicbids.com from December 16 – January 14. Next, have rally all of your fans and following vote for you on the Okeechobee Music Festival Facebook page from January 14-25. The band with the most votes on January 25 wins!

Now if you don’t win, don’t fret, because there will be a second chance for you to try to perform at in one of the slots for this once in a lifetime festival. According to Okeechobee Music Festival’s Instagram, the top 32 bands will be invited to perform a live music battle in four different Florida cities. Each city will have 8 bands battle it out for one of four additional time slots at Okeechobee Music and Arts Festival March 4-6. The winners will be determined by attendance and votes at each of the four chosen cities.

The locations of the four Florida cities/venues taking part in this competition are: The Beacham in Orlando, State Theatre in St. Petersburg, Jack Rabbits in Jacksonville, & Gramps in Miami. Apart from winning their time slots at the festival, winners also receive $500.00, 3-day festival passes for all band members and lots of great memories.

After serving in the military for eight years and attending Florida International University in Miami, I attended my first EDM concert in 2012. The DJ I saw was Kaskade and I fell in love with the scene immediately. Since joining the EDM community in 2012, I have been to several different music festivals which include: Ultra Miami, EDC Las Vegas, EDC Orlando, TomorrowWorld, Mysteryland, Electric Forest and many others. I have also been to several shows but prefer music festivals overall. Some of my favorite DJs include: Deadmau5, Kaskade, Rabbit in the Moon, and many others. EDM has always had a place in my heart and it actually came into my life when I really needed it, you could say it saved my life.
