Paul Oakenfold goes in-depth with his life story in his first ever book, The Wonderful World of Perfecto: With Paul Oakenfold and Friends.
The name Paul Oakenfold resonates around the world. Winning two Grammy Awards and being voted No. 1 DJ in the world twice, he can easily be considered one of the founding fathers of electronic music. For the first time ever, the trance legend will tell his “not quite true” life story in a graphic novel.
Multiple indie graphic novel artists are collaborating with Oakenfold on the novel. Some of these names include Ian McGinty (Welcome to Showside), Tyler Boss (4 Kids Walk Into a Bank), and Chris Hunt (Carver). In addition to the book, he is also releasing an accompanying soundtrack which will only be available if readers purchase the graphic novel itself.
Each graphic artist collaborating with Oakenfold on the novel will represent a different time period of his life from his rise to fame in the music industry to his residency at CREEM MAGAZINE to touring with U2. The novel will detail his amazing life story and experiences. The publishing of this novel comes at the perfect time, as this year marks the 30 year anniversary of his famous trip to Ibiza, which is said to have helped create the club culture as we know it today and to have jump-started his career.
The Wonderful World of Perfecto: With Paul Oakenfold and Friends is set to be released on November 21st, 2017 by Z2 Comics. It will be on sale in comic book stores and bookstores at a retail price of $24.99.
“We think bringing together music and graphic novels can be the secret sauce of Z2 Comics. Our goal is to work closely with musicians and graphic novel creators to create a unique experience, where the music informs the narrative of the graphic novel and vice versa.”
– Z2 Comics Co-Publisher Josh Frankel
“When you think of DJs and electronic music, you immediately think of Paul Oakenfold. It’s an honor to publish his first book.”
– Z2 Comics Co-Publisher Sridhar Reddy
The novel is part of a new initiative set by Z2 Comics where they will continue to publish graphic novels about music, always accompanied by an original soundtrack.
