S2O New York 2.0 couldn’t take place as planned due to production constraints, leading Pulse Events to pivot to Great Heat Festival (大暑) the same weekend.
S2O Festival has been one of the standouts in Asia for years. Dubbed the “World’s Wettest Party,” this experience, which celebrates Songkran (Thai New Year), made its way to US soil last year for a stunning debut in New York City. Pulse Events intended to bring S2O New York for a second round this summer, but due to production constraints surrounding The Brooklyn Mirage, it will now shift gears to a different experience.
Although S2O New York 2.0 won’t take place as planned, the event hasn’t been canceled. Instead, Pulse Events pivoted to create a new cultural experience, Great Heat Festival (大暑), which draws inspiration from the twelfth solar term in the traditional Chinese calendar. The dates, July 25-26, and lineup for this event remain the same; all that’s changing are the thematic production elements and the venue, which has shifted to The Great Hall at Avant Gardner.
“This isn’t a cancellation—it’s a collaboration,” said Pulse Events CEO Luffy Huang. “When faced with challenges, we chose unity over retreat. Great Heat is our way of honoring this powerful moment in the summer, and continuing our mission to spotlight Asian cultural traditions in a modern, global context.”
The debut edition of Great Heat Festival (大暑) will feature performances from top-tier artists in the scene. SLANDER, Dillon Francis, Jauz, and Nurko are among the artists taking the stage on Friday, while Major Lazer Soundsystem, Malaa, William Black, Cash Cash, and more will play on Saturday. Additionally, artists such as Diantoro, DIMSVM, DON6, On The Hunt, EMBM, and Sangarang will perform during Night Shift at The Kings Hall on those two nights.
Those who have already purchased passes to S2O New York 2.0 will have automatic access to Great Heat Festival (大暑) at its new venue. If you’d like a full refund due to this change, you can request one via DICE by 12pm ET on Friday, July 18.
