Babsy. swung by to chat about his early influences, how he developed his unique style, what’s to come at Lost In Dreams, and more.
Southern California has been a hotbed for talent in the dance music scene, and Babsy. is looking to stake his claim as part of the next wave of talent. Hailing from Thousand Oaks, his emotion-fueled sound has been influenced by progressive house and dubstep artists, along with the days he spent at the beach in nearby Malibu. This culminated in looks from labels like TH3RD BRAIN, Headroom, and bitbird as well as artist support from Louis The Child, Madeon, and more.
This year has seen Babsy. continue his rise in the scene, gracing labels like Boom Records and returning to bitbird, while also making his debut on Lost In Dreams in June with his latest single, “Gorgeous.” This fresh track is a perfect encapsulation of his style, which marries elements of house, UK Garage, and more to create an intoxicating soundscape. It also paved the way for his upcoming appearance at Lost In Dreams Los Angeles in just a few weeks’ time.
Before he takes the stage at Lost In Dreams Los Angeles, we caught up with Babsy. to dive into his roots, explore his sonic influences, and find out what’s to come in the latter half of the year. Listen to his exclusive guest mix and read on for the full conversation.

Hi Babsy, thanks so much for chatting with us today. Before we dive into your recent work, let’s turn back the clock. Who were some of your earliest electronic music influences?
Some of my earliest influences were Caspa, Rusko, and deadmau5. I was really drawn to the energy and experimentation in their music. That era was such a turning point for electronic sound, and it definitely shaped the way I approach production today.
You’re from Thousand Oaks, which is just outside Los Angeles County. How did growing up there impact your artistic journey? Did living adjacent to one of the biggest hubs in dance music fuel your passion?
Funny enough, my passion didn’t come so much from being near LA, it was more from being close to the beach. Growing up near Malibu had a huge influence on me. There’s something about the ocean, the sunsets, and that whole atmosphere that really shaped the emotion and energy in my music. It’s always been a big source of inspiration.
In 2023, you saw praise and virality from your remix of Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere.” What was it like seeing the views tick up on that one as it rose in popularity?
It was a mix of excitement and accomplishment, but also a bit of impostor syndrome. Watching the numbers climb felt surreal, like, ‘Is this really happening?’ I was proud of the track, but part of me couldn’t fully process that so many people were connecting with it. It definitely pushed me to keep going and trust my instincts more.
Your latest single, “Gorgeous,” marked your debut on Lost In Dreams Records. Can you tell us the story behind how this tune came to life?
The inspiration for ‘Gorgeous’ came from a mix of things. I was really drawn to the drum work in a lot of Disclosure’s music, and I wanted to channel that kind of groove. At the same time, I was hearing a lot of filtered, LFO-driven synths popping up in tracks I loved, so I leaned into that sound. It came together pretty naturally and felt like a cool blend of current energy with some of my longtime influences.

You also have a debut performance at Lost In Dreams’ flagship festival in LA this year. What can fans expect from your set there?
Fans can expect a super euphoric, upbeat set that blends house, UK garage, and even a few dubstep moments. I really want to create a journey that feels fun, high-energy, and emotionally charged. It’s going to be a mix of vibes that keep people dancing but also take them somewhere.
What’s been the biggest struggle you’ve faced so far in your career? Have you been able to overcome it?
One of my biggest struggles has been stage fright, that fear that the crowd might not vibe with me or connect to what I’m doing. I’ve carried it for a while, but I’ve been working on overcoming it by building more confidence in myself and my music. The more shows I play, the more I realize people are there because they want to experience it with me. That shift in mindset has helped a lot.
When you’re not honing your skills as a DJ and producer, what do you like to do in your free time?
When I’m not in the studio or on stage, I love being outdoors. I’m big into mountain biking, surfing, and golfing; they’re all ways I unplug, reset, and stay grounded. It’s nice to have that balance between high-energy music and peaceful moments outside.
Finally, what goals do you have for the rest of 2025 and beyond?
My biggest goal for the rest of 2025 and beyond is to play major festivals like EDC and Coachella. Getting the chance to perform at Lost In Dreams this year already feels like a huge step in that direction. It’s been an incredible start, and I’m just focused on keeping the momentum going, releasing more music, leveling up the live show, and connecting with even more people through the sound.
