Detroit label Interdimensional Transmissions has launched a fundraising initiative in support of respected DJ and producer Anthony “Shake” Shakir.

Legendary Detroit techno artists including Daniel Bell, DJ Etta, DJ Stingray 313, Eddie Fowlkes, and Keith Tucker are all slated to perform in support of fellow artist Anthony “Shake” Shakir amid his health crisis.

Interdimensional Transmissions is bringing prominent names from its tight-knit Detroit techno community together to perform for a benefit event for Shakir set to be held on Saturday, March 1, at Tangent Gallery. A GoFundMe has also been launched for those who cannot attend the event.

As mentioned in the GoFundMe summary, Shakir has been in long-term care for his multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis that has sadly left him unable to continue his passions of DJing and music production. The event is a celebration of Shake’s life and contributions to the techno community, aiming to help him to get back to doing what he loves.

Anthony “Shake” Shakir is a highly respected Detroit DJ and producer who has played a pivotal role in the history of techno music. Shake’s career started in high school when he won the Mixer Dome on The Electrifying Mojo’s radio show. His mixing style has been uniquely his own since his early days.

He went on to work for Metroplex and also made edits for Transmat Records, which included some of Movement Detroit favorite Carl Craig’s early work. Shake also released on KMS Records, and later on Daniel Bell’s Seventh City. His perspective and skill for techno music makes him a highly sought-after booking, and he has directly influenced many labels, including Interdimensional Transmissions, Tresor Records, Rush Hour Music, and Disko B.

The benefit will host two rooms, bringing together everyone who has impacted or been impacted by Shake’s impressive career. Tickets for the event can be purchased at Resident Advisor.
