Five Emerging Artists to Watch at Ultra Taiwan 2024
Savø
Born Mateo Savo and prolific in Taiwan’s underground scene, Savø is a Taiwanese-German DJ and producer whose intense and atmospheric techno sets are nothing short of transformative. His music explores the darker realms of ambient, minimal, industrial, and hard techno, crafting immersive soundscapes that pull listeners into another world. As the founder of Nos Obscura and a pivotal figure at Taipei’s Studio 9, Savø is deeply committed to promoting community through techno. Belle Sisoski
Malaysian artist Belle Sisoski brings a fresh, culturally rich perspective to the festival. She grew up immersed in her homeland’s musical heritage, which has now deeply influenced her work. Trained in classical violin and piano by her mother, a music teacher with a passion for ethnomusicology, Belle developed a profound appreciation for diverse musical traditions. She seamlessly blends traditional Southeast Asian instruments with modern electronic sounds, creating a fusion that both honors her roots and pushes musical boundaries. Belle promises a unique performance at the Ultra Park Stage on Saturday, November 16.
Weird Genius
The Indonesian trio Weird Genius recently caught global attention by infusing dance music with traditional Indonesian sounds. Their huge hit, “Lathi,” topped charts globally, and collaborating with artists like Yellow Claw as well as signing with the American label Astralwerks have further elevated their international career. Ramsey Westwood
Adding to a different side of Ultra, Ramsey Westwood is a Malaysian DJ and producer known for hardstyle and trance-influenced tracks. As the first Malaysian DJ to perform at London‘s Ministry of Sound, he’s earned support from industry legends like Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten. Bernie Bright
Taiwan native Bernie Bright discovered his love for electronic music while studying in London in 2012, immersing himself in the city’s vibrant music scenes. As a skilled sound engineer, festival organizer, and pianist, Bernie has DJed in cities like London, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Singapore.
