Five Artists Share Their Favorite Halloween Tune Ahead of Escape Halloween
Lisbona Sisters
We’re big lyrics girlies, and opening a song with “Oh my God, we’re back again” is a power move we respect, but let’s go into this further. Nick Carter fully unleashes a series of questions (1-4) and then an ultimate demand (5). Honestly, it’s giving toxic relationship vibes, but we’re here for it, and we’d like to respond as if we are in a three-way relationship with him, (beyond “Yeaaah”).
- “Am I Original?” Um, yah, babe, obviously, you’re doing amazing, sweetie.
- “Am I the only one?” Spooky, but ok, yah sure.
- “Am I sexual?” Bb, we are literally rocking our bodies rn, wym?
- “Am I everything you need?” This doesn’t feel healthy. We’ve actually been looking more inside ourselves for valida—
- “You better rock your body now.” Ok, we just told you we’re doing that and you can see that we’re doing that. We feel like you’re gaslighting us and think we should probably break up.
Anyway, we love this song and this music video and will go full goblin for it until the end of time.
RayRay
My tune with Dysmonia, “GRAVES.” The idea of this song is the perfect fit for Halloween. It’s perfect for setting a spooky, high-energy Halloween vibe. Its eerie soundscape, mixed with heavy bass and dark melodic elements, makes it ideal for a haunted rave or Halloween party playlist.
Vastive
“Thriller” by Michael Jackson. The groove, the beat, it’s like dancing with the devil. I’m a fan of the darker Halloween tracks, too, but this track makes evil feel fun, and I love that dynamic. The “Darkness falls across the land…” section also has to be one of my all-time favorite pieces of music.
Cherry Lee
My favorite Halloween track would have to be “Witch Doctor,” because I think that song captures my essence. And yes, “Witch Doctor” from the 2007 movie Alvin and the Chipmunks. The original song was actually written in 1958, and thanks to the technique used to make those squeaky voices, it later inspired the Chipmunks franchise. That song became a hit and actually saved Liberty Records from bankruptcy—the biggest gag of all!
Sharlitz Web
I absolutely adore the song “I Put A Spell On You” by Nina Simone. I love this song for a few reasons. My dad showed me this song when I was younger, and he would always sing it to me, so it holds a very special place in my heart. I really enjoy the super soulful vibe this song encapsulates – it just draws you into the song as if it’s putting a spell on you. When that saxophone solo comes in, I feel I’m under their spell, which is why it’s my favorite Halloween anthem.
