John Digweed Recovering After 10-Day Hospital Stint

“No more IV’s,” wrote John Digweed in his first Instagram post since his team announced that he was hospitalized.

John Digweed‘s fans and supporters all stopped what they were doing when news broke that he had to cancel multiple gigs while hospitalized. Now, an Instagram post from the UK progressive house figurehead suggests that the worst is behind him.

Importantly, the post is written in the first person whereas the previous one appeared to have been published by his team. “No more IV’s,” it reads. “I would like to thank all the Doctors and Nurses who have taken amazing care of me over the last 10 days, they have been truly amazing especially when so far from home.”

The statement continued: “Thanks for all the kind words and support. It really helped me get through my time in hospital.”

John Digweed has not gone into the specifics of his illness, nor has he explicitly stated whether he will have to cancel additional tour dates. The three events he called off last weekend were in Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Dallas. Next on his current agenda are a Friday, October 11 gig at Camden Roundhouse in London and a Wednesday, October 16 performance at Bar Bistro Bureau in Amsterdam that coincides with the first day of Amsterdam Dance Event.

John Digweed was one of the DJs most closely associated with the progressive house genre in the early to mid-’90s. He regularly performed back to back with fellow genre stalwart Sasha, most notably at London event brand Renaissance. After focusing on their respective solo careers for many years, the two started performing together again in 2016. Digweed’s Guadalajara and Dallas shows were both intended to be back-to-back sets with Sasha.

We here at EDM Identity hope that John Digweed’s recent illness is in the rearview mirror and he can resume blowing the minds of dance music lovers across the globe.
