FRANCO BA is making some major moves in the scene, and he’s dropped off a mix that features the sounds permeating his sets in Buenos Aires.
South America has been a hotbed for talent in the electronic music scene for decades, with DJs and producers from Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Argentina shaking sound systems with their unique styles. FRANCO BA is one of those artists. Hailing from Buenos Aires, he’s become a regular fixture at Crobar Club and Rio Electronic Music but has also spread his wings beyond the borders of his home city.
FRANCO BA got his start in the scene in the middle of 2018 when he started playing at clubs in Buenos Aires, but his love for electronic music began well before then. “Since I was very young, I liked electronic music, but it was the curiosity of how you could create music with a computer that pushed my desire to get into this world,” he shared. “Seeing DJs or producers who played their own music (which of course, I loved), I wondered “how do these guys make their music?” then I fell in love with music production completely.”
Those years FRANCO BA spent honing his skills behind the decks and in the studio have paid off. Not only have his tracks begun to gain support from the likes of Solomun, FISHER, Vintage Culture, and Marco Carola, among others, but he’s caught the ear of John Summit and Lee Foss, who have signed his tunes to Experts Only and Repopulate Mars.
South America has long been a beloved region for many electronic artists, and according to FRANCO BA, it’s continuing to “grow dramatically.” “You have from the most mainstream to the most underground,” he told EDM Identity. “There is something for everyone. And, of course, not only are there many DJs, but there are also excellent producers.”
For a look at what a night out in Buenos Aires is like, FRANCO BA mentioned that he’d head to a restaurant where they cook meat on a parrilla, a large Argentine grill that’s rooted in the country’s gaucho heritage. From there, it’d be a night out on the town at his usual spots, Crobar Club or Rio Electronic Music. “They are par excellence the best electronic music clubs nowadays,” he said. “Maybe we could go to some after-party. The nights in Buenos Aires are very, very long!”
But that’s not all that FRANCO BA shared today. He also dropped a mix that showcases his music and the sounds currently permeating Buenos Aires, including some edits from his friends. “It’s a mix that describes what I like to do in my sets,” he said. “Playing various genres and specifically the music I like!”
