The Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin debut of GRIDLIFE Summer Apex follows the sold-out 11th edition of GRIDLIFE Midwest in South Haven, Michigan.
The minds behind GRIDLIFE Midwest have a brand-new festival in the works. Building on the success of their long-running gathering in rural Michigan, they have announced that the debut of GRIDLIFE Summer Apex will run from July 26-28 at the Road America racetrack in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Not only that, but they’ve announced two major headliners.
Namely, deadmau5 and Liquid Stranger will perform at the GRIDLIFE Summer Apex debut. While both are superstars in their own right, each represents a vastly different end of the electronic music spectrum.
Joel Zimmerman, known professionally as deadmau5, released Get Scraped, his first album under the moniker, all the way back in 2005. While eclectic, he’s perhaps most closely associated with the progressive house genre. Zimmerman began to gain serious traction on the back of his 2008 effort Random Album Title, and in the years since he has become equally well known for his immersive stage shows and multifaceted brand.
Liquid Stranger (real name Martin Stääf), on the other hand, was one of the tastemakers who helped popularize experimental bass among a new generation of fans. His WAKAAN record label came to champion the wonkier, weirder side of the bass music world, and he now organizes an annual gathering dedicated to similar sounds, WAKAAN Music Festival, in rural Arkansas.
Relative up-and-comer Dogma is also on the GRIDLIFE Summer Apex bill. He boasts releases on labels like Dim Mak, Subsidia Records, and Buygore, and he has performed at events throughout the Midwest and beyond.
GRIDLIFE Midwest just enjoyed its 11th annual edition at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, Michigan, pairing electronic music with motorsports. According to GRIDLIFE Founder Chris Stewart, they’ve had their sights set on Road America for some time.
“Bringing the GRIDLIFE Festival to Road America has been a dream of ours since we started over a decade ago,” said Stewart. “Not only is it one of the greatest circuits in the world, it’s simply an amazing place to spend a weekend. We’re so excited to be able to build this new festival together and show a whole new community the magic of this incredible venue.”
