Tim Exile was diagnosed with bladder cancer after the birth of his twin daughters.
The worldwide electronic music community has come together to help one of its own in his time of need. A fundraiser has been launched to cover cancer treatment and other costs for Tim Exile, the creator of the app Endlesss whose illustrious career also includes releases on key labels like Warp Records and Moving Shadow.
According to a GoFundMe page created by Tim’s sister, Anna Shaw, he was diagnosed with fast-spreading form of bladder cancer in July 2023, following the birth of his twin daughters. In April, he underwent surgery to remove his bladder, prostate, and part of his bowel. Endlesss has discontinued operations as a result, and Tim isn’t expected to be able to work while he recovers for the next six months.
“Tim dedicated 7 years of his life and all his wealth to building Endlesss, serving a community which derived a huge amount of joy and connection from the platform,” reads the GoFundMe description. “The collapse of the business has left him with no savings and no income as well as many thousands of pounds in debts which will take him years to pay off.”
On a positive note, the fundraiser met its goal of £40,000 shortly after going live. A stretch goal of £80,000 was then added with a note specifying that all donations received following the £40,000 mark will go to the Endlesss team.
Time Exile (real name Tim Shaw) began experimenting with electronic music at the age of 12. His first release landed on K Power less than a decade later, and his illustrious relationship with seminal breakbeat label Moving Shadow started with his 2001 Bad Diet EP.
The GoFundMe description ends on a hopeful note. “If anyone has the drive and optimism to rebuild from these ashes, it’s Tim,” it reads. “If anyone has the power to help him get there, it’s you.“
