Sunset Music Festival is Taking a Year Off in 2024

Sunset Music Festival’s organizers wrote: “Rather than compromise on Sunset’s quality, we decided to take a year off to ensure our return exceeds expectations.“

EDM fans looking forward to this year’s return of Sunset Music Festival received disappointing news this week. The annual gathering usually takes place in Tampa toward the end of May — but as organizers plan a pivot, it won’t go on at all in 2024.

“As we reminisce about our time at Raymond James Stadium, we wanted to update you on a new era for the Sunset Music Festival,” reads a statement from the organizers. “Our rebranding journey, which includes a move to a fresh venue in 2024, has been full of excitement.“

It continues: “While we had hoped to unveil the new venue this year, it’s now clear it won’t be ready until 2025. Rather than compromise on Sunset’s quality, we’ve decided to take a year off to ensure our return exceeds expectations.”

Sunset Music Festival inaugurated in 2012, billing the likes of Alesso, Nicky Romero, and Paul van Dyk for a single-day event at Raymond James Stadium. Over the course of its lifetime, it has expanded to three days and showcased artists headliners like Skrillex, Hardwell, Illenium, Zeds Dead, and Flosstradamus.

Organizers have yet to announce where the 2025 edition of the festival will take place at the time of writing. During its year off, would-be Sunset festival-goers will likely opt to attend Breakaway Music Festival instead as it shares a similar EDM focus. Options elsewhere in Florida include Miami’s Ultra Music Festival and III Points, as well as Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival in Okeechobee.
