Octave One, Laurent Garnier, Charlotte de Witte, and Kerri Chandler headline this year’s Sónar Festival.
Sónar Festival is a true Spanish institution. Every year, the electronic music mecca draws tens of thousands of attendees for a chance to catch the best and brightest acts the space has to offer. Ahead of the 2024 event at Fira Montjuïc and Fira Gran Via in Barcelona from June 13-15, organizers have given them ample cause for excitement by announcing the full lineup.
As of the last artist announcement in November, the Sónar Festival 2024 lineup boasted names like horsegiirL, Skin On Skin, Surgeon, and Reinier Zonneveld. Rounding it out are techno icons like Laurent Garnier of France, Richie Hawtin and Danny Tenaglia from the US, and VTSS from Poland.
On the house front, French DJ Folamour, Detroit artist Stacey Hotwaxx Hale, Austrian act Salute, and Swiss duo Adriatique offer an upbeat counterbalance. The lineup is also rife with big-name back-to-back sets. Among them are Jennifer Cardini b2b HAAi, Marie Montexier b2b Mor Elian, Kittin b2b David Vunk, and even a b3b between Eliza Rose, Dan Shake, and Sally C.
Sónar’s organizers have collaborated with Printworks on a brand-new stage inspired by the presently shuttered London venue with special audiovisual curation. The venue recently submitted a proposal to reopen in 2026, on the other end of extensive renovations.
The billings are split between two separate programs: Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night. Complementing both is Sónar+D, a technology conference hosted in tandem with the festival since 2013. This year’s edition will focus on AI and sustainability.
Sónar itself first took place in 1994 as the brainchild of Ricard Robles, Enric Palau, and Sergi Caballero. The inaugural event drew only 6,000 attendees and billed the likes of Sven Väth, Atom Heart, and Trans Global Underground. Last year’s edition saw attendance swell to 80,000.
