Renovations to Red Rocks Amphitheatre are projected to wrap up by mid-May.
Red Rocks Amphitheatre had a landmark year in 2023, ranking as the world’s fourth most-attended venue. The team running the scenic natural amphitheater intends to capitalize on this momentum with a series of key modifications that they plan to (mostly) finalize ahead of the 2024 season.
Chief among them is a complete renovation of the Visitor’s Center at the top of the venue. Several rooms will be redone, including the Ship Rock Grille and Rock Room. Interactive tech will be integrated into the Theater, which showcases Red Rocks memorabilia like signed instruments and posters. The Visitor’s Center bathrooms will also receive a significant upgrade.
New sidewalks will be added to the Upper North, Upper South, and Lower South 1 parking lots. The latter will also be connected to the Trading Post by way of a brand-new staircase. New light poles will illuminate these areas after dark, and a retaining wall made of the same sandstone as Red Rocks’ iconic formations will border the parking lot.
Ramps have been slightly adjusted in keeping with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance. New ADA parking spots are also being added, along with nearby ADA-compliant bathrooms. The Top Circle area reserved for entrants with disabilities is also getting an overhaul to improve nagivability.
Other updates lie in store as well — and Red Rocks is trying to finish the bulk of them in this month. They nonetheless expect that some won’t be finished until mid-May, and more will likely have to wait until the end of the 2024 season. “There will still be a little bit of work after the season starts due to frozen-ground and asphalt issues, but we’re trying to pull all of this off in the next few weeks,” Red Rocks Amphitheatre Venue Director Tad Bowman told the Denver Post.
The Red Rocks 2024 season starts with a concert headlined by Boogie T on March 30, followed by Marshmello and SVDDEN DEATH‘s collaborative performance as Mellodeath on April 4.
