FSOE Sydney Called Off Days Before Event

Future Sound Of Egypt (FSOE) was slated to return to Australia for the first time in nine years.

Australian fans of Future Sound Of Egypt (FSOE) who looked forward to FSOE Sydney received disappointing news this week. Local partner Elysium Events announced that the event would not go on as planned, a mere six days before it was slated to take place on Cockatoo Island on February 10.

In a statement posted to the FSOE Sydney Facebook event page, Elysium chalked the cancellation up to logistical setbacks and meager ticket sales. “With constant logistical and operational challenges of running an event on an island coupled with low ticket sales, we had to make the difficult decision to not proceed further with the event at Cockatoo Island,” they wrote. “Our priority is to always deliver a great experience for our patrons and everyone involved.”

FSOE shared a statement of their own two days later, attributing the state of affairs to “circumstances beyond our control” and distancing themselves from Elysium Events. “We want to emphasize that the decision not to proceed with the event on Saturday February 10th rests solely with the promoter, and FSOE was fully committed to proceeding with the event,” reads their Instagram post. “As such, we kindly ask ticket holders to direct refund inquiries to the event promoter who will be responsible for advising refund options.”

Elysium has not shared refund information at the time of writing. Instead, they announced an event for the same day called Rooftop Session #6 at the Greenwood Hotel featuring “most of the lineup” of FSOE Sydney. Alex M.O.R.P.H., John 00 Fleming, Amy Wiles, Paul Denton, Roger Shah, Alex O’Rion, and Anthony Pappa will carry over. Ferry Corsten, Joint Operations Centre, Das Pharaoh, Paul Thomas, and Aly & Fila b2b John O’Callaghan are notably absent.

“Please note this will not be a FSOE Event,” reads a passage of the replacement event announcement.
