Kasablanca canceled tour stops in Miami, Washington D.C., Tulum, and Bogotá so that Micky could undergo treatment.
Electronic music duo Kasablanca have shocked their fans with unfortunate news. Micky has revealed that he has been diagnosed with cancer and must temporarily cancel at least four dates on their Crossing The Rubicon Tour so he can take measures to curb the ailment.
“I was rushed In to have emergency surgery, which led to the cancellation of our shows in Miami & Washington D.C.,” Micky writes in Kasablanca’s Instagram post. “The surgery went well, however, I’m currently going through an aggressive chemotherapy treatment. My doctors are confident the cancer is curable and that I will make a full recovery.”
Micky went on to say that his treatment will continue into February, preventing the duo from performing at Zamna in Tulum and Solaris Festival in Bogotá. “We apologize to anyone who has purchased tickets to see us,” he writes. “Please know that the thrill of performing our music for Citizens around the world is what we live for.”
The final two images in Kasablanca’s post show Micky shaving his head and then standing in front of a stack of modular synthesizers.
A look at DJ and producer Shaun Frank‘s writer credits, in tandem with the duo’s performance photos, reveals him to be the artist behind the Micky alias. When the Kasablanca project launched in 2020, it quickly built a following for its nostalgic branding and exhilarating spin on progressive house. Sometime between 2022 and 2023, Frank’s original collaborator, Alexi, was replaced with an artist monomymously called Viktor.
“Our debut album is very much underway and we’re excited to share new music with you when I am cancer free,” Micky closed out. “I promise, Viktor and I will be back stronger, louder, and more synthalogic than ever before.”
