As We Belong Here brings dance music back to Governors Island, weekend one features a diverse lineup including Simon Doty, Le Youth, Aluna, and SIDEPIECE.
Just last week, we announced that We Belong Here is bringing electronic music back to Governors Island with a two-weekend summer deries. Now, we’re back with the initial lineup announcement. The first weekend offers a diverse and awesome group of talented acts with more to come.
The weekend series opens on Friday, May 24th, with Le Youth, Simon Doty, Rinzen, and Exstra topping the bill. With a deep library of releases on This Never Happened, Le Youth and Rinzen will certainly command a big draw. The arguably adjacent sounds of Simon Doty from Anjunadeep, in tandem with deep downtempo from Exstra, will be sure to please as well.
On Saturday, May 25th, attendees will be treated to performances by Aluna, Chapter & Verse, and Lucky Luke. A “special guest” is also listed but not disclosed at this time. Finally, for the last day of the first weekend, Sunday, May 26th brings SIDEPIECE, Sam Blacky, Bakke, and Not Not Down. SIDEPIECE fans will be rewarded with a three-hour set of their mainstage sound.
Programming each day will begin at 4pm ET. Considering noise ordinances — and that ticketholders will need to take a ferry to and from the island for these events — it’s likely that programming will end no later than midnight with all attendees on a ferry no later than 1am.
We Belong Here will be staging six parties over two summer weekends, including Memorial Day Weekend. This summer series on Governors Island will reward attendees with incredible panoramic views of the NYC skyline and neighboring structures like the Statue of Liberty, open-air ferries to the island, and tons of amenities to explore beyond the festival. We Belong Here is sure to bring a marquee lineup to this event as well!
