“This is not a decision I’ve taken lightly,” said Darren Styles.
The last thing any artist wants to do is disappoint their fans, but Darren Styles has been left no choice. The UK hard dance DJ and producer must undergo surgery on his back, forcing him to cancel all of his upcoming tour dates through the end of 2023.
“To cut a long story short I have a prolapsed disc in my back which I have had for the last few months,” Styles shared in an Instagram post. “It is putting pressure on a nerve and causing a lot of pain, especially after long periods of travel.”
“I’ve tried all the non-surgical options out there and had spinal injections but unfortunately it has gotten to the point where my only option is surgery,” he continued. “The recovery from this is likely to be 6-8 weeks, therefore all being well I will be back in action early 2024.”
Through the rest of November and in December, Styles was slated to perform in Bournemouth and Manchester in the UK, San Bernardino and Seattle in the US, and then in the UK again in Doncaster and Milton Keynes.
Hailing from Essex, Darren Styles attended his first rave in 1992 and started his first big project, Force & Styles, alongside previous collaborator Paul Hobbs in 1995. Styles’ solo career, which inaugurated with the release of his debut single, “Feelin’ Fine,” has taken him to stages across the UK as well as throughout Europe, North America, and Australia.
Styles wrote that further information regarding each show will be posted on each individual promoter’s social media. “I hate to let everyone down but I have to put my health first,” his statement closes out. “Thank you in advance for your understanding and I’ll see you early 2024.”
