Dancefestopia music festival is currently offering VIP camping along the beautiful Missouri river for $125 per person. General Admission for one person at “TentCity” is $39. The VIP camping is new to 2015 and well worth the extra cash. You’ll be adjacent to the main stage, eliminating the tedious walk back to your tent. You’ll also have separate bathrooms and a wonderful view. Keep in mind that one camping pass equals one entrance.
You’ll be camping for three days and nights if you’re going for the full Dancefestopia experience. Here are some of my recommended items to bring in order to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Essentials:
- Tent – Bring a bigger tent than you think you’ll need. A ‘two man’ actually seems like it’s for one. Your camping area will be 10ft x 15ft. Only one tent/person per camping pass. Camping areas are regulated by wrist bands.
- Air mattress – You don’t want to sleep on the ground. I once made the mistake of going cheap and buying a ‘self inflating camping pad’. It was awful!
- Blankets & pillows – It may be hot during the day, but at night it will be chilly.
- Bath towels – There will be public showers available ($10 per shower).
- Folding chairs – You don’t want to stand the whole time.
- Awning – Protects you from the sun and keeps your tent cooler.
- Cooler(s) – Bring plenty of water. If you freeze the water bottles before hand then you won’t need ice. Free water refill stations will be available as well.
- Food – No grilling or campfires of any kind are allowed. Simply pack meals to keep in the cooler – sandwiches, chips, granola bars, etc. There will also be food and drink vendors on site.
- Dishes – Paper plates and utensils, red solo cups, etc.
- Cleaning spray – Lysol, biodegradable dish soap, paper soap. I use these.
- Trash bags and/or plastic bags – Keep your area organized and clean!
- Roll of paper towels – For eating or cleaning.
- First aid kit – I personally use this one from Walmart. It comes with anything you could possibly need.
- Poncho – Prepare for rain… and mud.
- Waterproof container – To keep your electronics in case it rains. Something like this.
Misc:
- Portable power pack – Use this to charge your phone. I recommend keeping your phone on airplane mode most of the time, that way you conserve battery life but can still take photos and check the time. I personally use this one. Verizon will be providing a charging station, but it will likely be crowded and quite a walk from your tent.
- Alcohol – You are allowed to bring in box wine and beer only at the initial first entry. Two cases of beer per camping site and 2 boxes of wine per camping site. Anything more is confiscated!
- Fanny pack – It’s useful and secure, especially when you’re dancing and running around. Keep your important items inside, like money, ID, and cell phone.
- Insect repellent – You’ll regret it if not!
- Bandana & Sunglasses – Depending on the location, it can be very dusty. This will protect your face.
- Dry Shampoo – Very convenient way to freshen up your hair. Just spray it in your roots, rub your scalp a bit, and then brush away.
- Baby wipes & facial wipes – Each shower will cost $10 per person, or $25 for unlimited. Use these instead.
- Sunblock – If you’re like me, you’ll look like a lobster after 30 minutes in the sun.
- Emergen-C and multivitamins – Festivals are exhausting. Keep your body fueled and nourished.
- Hand sanitizer – The bathroom might be a long walk.
- Patio lights – Use them to wrap around your tent so it’s easier to locate. These are battery powered and look pretty cool.
- Downy Wrinkle Release – Freshens up the smell of your clothes and de-wrinkles them.
- Ear plugs – If you have trouble sleeping throughout loud noise.
- Tent fan – I use this one. It keeps the air inside my tent flowing and cool.
