Music industry members who need support can reach out to Backline’s B-LINE support line by calling 1-855-BLINE99 or by texting 254-639.

A heightened response to mental health has emerged in the scene over the past decade. Awareness has been spread by artists and industry members, and many organizations have also taken action in response. The latest to provide assistance is Backline, which recently launched B-LINE, a 24/7 mental health and crisis support line created for those within the music industry.

Backline, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that launched in 2019, has spent years providing support for music industry professionals and their families by connecting them with mental health and wellness resources. B-LINE is the latest step the nonprofit has taken to provide help to those in need. Those who call or text the line will be connected with trained counselors who understand the unique pressures faced by members of the music industry. Vibrant Emotional Health was named among the organizations providing assistance through its team of trained experts.

“This has always been the dream,” said Backline co-founder and Executive Director Hilary Gleason. “We’ve supported thousands of music industry professionals in their mental health and wellness journeys, but one critical piece was missing: real-time access to care. B-LINE changes that.”

Major music industry brands, including Spotify, Live Nation, AEG Presents, and Red Light Management, have already begun supporting Backline’s B-LINE initiative.

“Live Nation was among the first to feature Backline resources in our venues, and it has become an essential lifeline for the people who make our industry run,” said Michael Rapino, Live Nation Entertainment President and CEO. “B-LINE gives them something we’ve long needed: immediate help, anytime. Live Nation is proud to support this 24/7 resource and ensure it’s prominently featured across all our venues.”

Backline revealed that B-LINE has already helped over 80 people in the music industry since its launch on January 27. The initiative aims to help even more people who need immediate, confidential support with a seamless transition to long-term care in the coming years.

The response to the launch showed us just how needed this resource really is. People reached out not just to look for help, but to say thank you for building something that truly understands our world. It was a powerful reminder that when care is created by and for the community, it can genuinely change lives.

B-LINE is accessible 24/7 by calling 1-855-BLINE99 or by texting 254-639. For more details on Backline’s initiatives, visit their official website.
