Tiësto didn’t wait long after his CLUBLIFE era drew to a close before launching Prismatic, a radio show that further cements his return to trance.
Tiësto closed out 2025 with the bittersweet news that his CLUBLIFE podcast was coming to an end after nearly 19 years. But the very same day its last episode aired, so did the first installment of a new mix series dedicated to the trance sound to which he’s triumphantly returned.
Prismatic, which takes its name from the “Bring Me To Life” superstar’s recent stage shows in places like Mexico and Egypt, airs every Saturday night at midnight on Dutch station Radio 538. But listeners outside of the Netherlands can find no shortage of fan re-uploads. This one even includes a convenient tracklist, showing that Tiësto (real name Tijs Verwest) showcased a mix of his old and new trance fare alike, along with music by the likes of Paul Denton, Nitrous Oxide, and Pegassi.
Starting his career in 1985, Verwest dabbled in new beat, acid house, and hardcore before adopting the ’90s trance sound that vaulted his career into the stratosphere by the end of the millennium. But a decade later, he had transitioned to the big room style popular during the EDM explosion, even experimenting with Afro house in recent years.
That made it all the more unexpected when he went all in on trance once again in 2025. It started with an “In Search of Sunrise” set at EDC Las Vegas, and his performance at trance festival Dreamstate SoCal coincided with his announcement of an upcoming album. No title or release date has been shared ahead of the upcoming effort, but attentive fans have noticed that he’s slowly revealing its tracklist by uploading those of his recent sets.
Tiësto is not merely dipping his toes back into trance. He’s already dove in headfirst. His recent return to the genre is turning its fair share of heads, making it likely that he doubles down even further.
