Fred Again.. has uploaded a full movie of his Dublin performance as part of the USB002 rollout. You can watch a seven-minute teaser below.
On November 1, Fred Again.. took his talents to Dublin for one of the more memorable showings on his recent USB002 shows. To cap off the year, he’s released a full-length film of the performance on Apple Music — and if you’re not a subscriber, you can still watch a seven-minute teaser of the full recording on YouTube.
In the teaser, Fred Again.. (real name Fredrick Gibson) can be seen playing an unreleased single called “Lights Burn Dimmer” that samples Jamie T. As the UK singer-songwriter’s anthemic verses cut through gritty yet melodic synth textures, bolts of fabric from a kinetic art installation by Boris Acket sway overhead as if in response to the expansions and contractions of the frenzied crowd below.
Gibson’s USB002 shows weren’t a typical album support tour. Each event in the series saw him debut a new single from the project, with high-profile collaborators making surprise appearances in tandem with the rollout. Dublin was the fifth city he visited, following Glasgow, Brussels, Madrid, and Lyon. Afterward, the rollout took him to Toronto, Chicago, Vancouver, San Francisco, and Mexico City.
Hailing from London, Gibson’s family was neighbors with Brian Eno while he was growing up, and he even collaborated with the iconic ambient artist in 2014. He initially worked as a producer for artists like George Ezra, Rita Ora, and Ed Sheeran, but his 2020 album, Actual Life (April 14 – December 17 2020), drew attention to his solo project at a crucial turning point during which countless new artists broke through.
