The Detty Rave 2025 lineup features African dance music artists like Spinall, Chichi DJ, Ciza, and Mr. Eazi himself as well as acts from other continents.
Next year will mark ten years of Detty Rave in Accra, Ghana, and organizer Mr. Eazy is pulling out all the stops. To drum up hype, he’s delivered a 2025 lineup for the gathering slated for Saturday, December 27, at Untamed Empire, featuring artists from across Africa and beyond.
Nigerian Afrobeats innovator Spinall, genre-blender Chichi DJ from Ghana, and Afro-pop mainstay Ciza from South Africa speak to the cross-section of African dance music talent enlisted by Mr. Eazi. The Nigerian Banku music pioneer himself is set to perform alongside UK artist DJ Edu under the moniker Choplife Soundsystem.
The Detty Rave: Raise The Heat 2025 lineup doesn’t exclusively feature African talent. Priyanka, a Sri Lankan artist famous for her “India-mapiano” mixes, is also on the bill. Ditto for Ginger Boy, who will travel to Accra to showcase his take on Afrobeats. Altogether, their performances will speak to the multinational influence of African dance music in the present day.
In Ghana, the word “Detty” is used to describe deviants unafraid to play in the mud, and “Detty Boy” is one of Mr. Eazi’s nicknames. After throwing a successful homecoming gathering in 2016 — right as his career was starting to break through — he hosted the first Detty Rave in 2017, drawing a crowd of 3,500. While recent attendance estimates range from 11-25,000, one thing is certain: Mr. Eazi has successfully raised the bar on Ghanaian dance music festivals.
“We are not returning. We are evolving,” said Mr Eazi. “Raise the Heat is a frequency shift and the true heart of December nightlife. Accra will host the most authentic African dance music eruption you have ever felt.”
