Trance DJ and producer Chris Metcalfe reflects on his breakthrough year and whips up a mix to kick off the Winter Waveforms series in style.

Globe-trotting artist Chris Metcalfe has quickly made a name for himself in the trance scene. Originally hailing from the UK, where he spent years honing his craft and cutting his teeth supporting top-tier artists, he’s since set his sights on other reaches of the globe, recently making a home for himself in the UAE.

Metcalfe’s music has graced a laundry list of labels throughout his career, including Armada, Black Hole Recordings, FSOE, Vandit, and Subculture. Of course, that’s just one piece of the puzzle for the trance producer, as he’s flexed his skills behind the decks along the way, too. Not only has he become a favorite throughout the Middle East’s nightlife scene in recent years, playing Zero Gravity, Five Palm Jumeirah, and the Abu Dhabi F1, but he’s also taken the stage elsewhere, like Creamfields in the UK and Summerburst in Sweden. This all led to Chris Metcalfe’s breakthrough in 2025, which was marked by even more stunning releases and performances at high-profile events.

This year has been my most productive one so far. I set myself a goal back in early 2024 to really push hard and stay consistent, stay focused, and release music every few months. Seeing that plan come to life has been really great. I’ve released six tracks this year across two of my favourite labels, FSOE and Armada, and that momentum has pushed me to another level creatively and professionally.

Just because Chris Metcalfe saw some success in 2025 doesn’t mean that he’ll be resting on his laurels. Instead, he plans to push himself even further in the new year. “I’m excited to share what I feel is some of my strongest music yet,” he shared. “I’ve got some big collaborations on the way, a couple of vocal projects, and a busy schedule of gigs and festivals confirmed. 2026 is shaping up to be a huge year, and I can’t wait to build on everything I’ve set in motion.”

As the year comes to a close, Chris Metcalfe swung by to kick off this year’s Winter Waveforms mix series. “This mix showcases a lot of my own material alongside some of my favourite tracks from 2025,” he said. “Expect 140 BPM uplifting trance with a few classics sprinkled in for good measure. I hope you enjoy.” Found inside are curated tunes from his discography, along with others from John O’Callaghan, Bryan Kearney, Ferry Corsten, and more.
