Future Forms, a new queer-founded event by artists EREZ and Madi Tanguay, merges live electronic music and contemporary dance into a participatory rave ritual.
At its core, Future Forms asks a direct question: what happens when dance music is placed in direct dialogue with contemporary dance? The answer to this unfolds in real time at the newly queer-founded performance event series. It makes its debut at National Sawdust in New York City on January 30, 2026, presenting a hybrid format that sits between concert, dance performance, and rave.
The event series is led by EREZ and Madi Tanguay. The former is a producer, DJ, and multidisciplinary artist whose work spans electronic and experimental music with performances at major festivals including Coachella and Outside Lands. The latter is a choreographer and movement artist currently working with Gibney Company.
The pair have united their distinct practices into a shared vision. It culminated when they built Future Forms, a collaborative platform where electronic sound and contemporary dance explore new means of live expression.
The debut edition will feature performances by Ben Green, Destinee Jimenez, Graham Feeny, Mio Ishikawa, and Ohad Mazor, each contributing to the project’s physical and emotional range. The setting is just as integral to the experience. Set in Brooklyn, National Sawdust’s 120-speaker Meyer Sound Laboratories system enables audio to move through the room with intention and depth, reinforcing the project’s immersive intent.
As attendees step into the night, it’ll unfold in two chapters, with a third to be introduced in future iterations. BASE opens the evening with a performance-led section featuring live original music from EREZ paired with choreography by Tanguay and performed by a cast of contemporary dancers. The experience then transitions into OUTPUT, where the structure loosens into a full rave environment. DJ sets from x3butterfly and Seb Wildblood guide the second half of the night, extending the performance into the crowd and shifting the room from staged presentation to shared participation.
At its heart, Future Forms is shaped by the relationship between EREZ and Tanguay, who are not only collaborators but life partners. That intimacy informs the project’s ethos: a space rooted in queer expression, bodily freedom, and genuine connection. In a nightlife scene often built around escape, Future Forms offers an invitation to arrive fully, move freely, and become part of the performance itself.
