Marie Nyx, Wuki, Close Friends Only, Odymel, and Ship Wrek share New Year’s resolutions and favorite 2025 releases ahead of their Countdown NYE sets.
The end is near, folks. Well, the end of the year, anyway. And as 2025 draws to a close, what better way to set good intentions for 2026 than to grasp celestial inspiration from five artists bracing for the alien invasion that’s about to go down in Downtown Los Angeles for Countdown NYE.
The stage is set. The aliens are en route, and the guests are picking out their bests for the annual extra-terrestial fest that Insomniac brings to Southern California to ring in the new year. With its new home at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Countdown NYE is prepping for an end-of-year bash like no other.
The one-night only affair rocket launches festival goers out of the past and into the future with a dazzling display of cosmic effects, otherworldly entertainment, and a lineup overflowing with some of the best artists our planet has to offer. Insomniac’s billings for the year-end bash range the wonderful spectrum that it is EDM. The space invasion soiree will see Above and Beyond, John Summit, Crankdat, Ship Wrek, and many more rocking the decks across four stages.
As we reflect on 2025 moments of in rave culture and brace for what’s to come in 2026, we asked Countdown NYE 2025 artists Marie Nyx, Wuki, Close Friends Only, Odymel, and Ship Wrek what their New Year’s resolution is and what was their favorite release of the year.

Five Countdown NYE Acts Share Their New Year’s Resolutions

Marie Nyx
New Year’s Resolution:
My overall New Year’s resolution is to be intentional about finding balance between quality time with loved ones, taking care of my physical health, playing gigs and traveling, and getting music finished. Working a routine into my life is my number one priority in order to move forward in achieving my goals. On a more concrete note, I’d like to finish at least two tracks a month and have a release at least every three months this year.
Favorite Release:
My favorite release of 2025 was Blawan‘s Sick Elixir album. The sound design in each track is so unique that every time I listen, I feel like I have a permanent stank face. It really redefined experimental electronica for me, and I really can’t get enough of playing or listening to it.

Wuki
New Year’s Resolution:
My NYE resolution is to try and experience the cities I travel to more. I’m often stuck in the hotel room, so I want to start finding people and fans to hang out with in those places.
Favorite Release:
My favorite release has probably been my song, “Ring of Fire!” I’ve been trying to get that out forever, and we finally did it.

Odymel
New Year’s Resolution:
For 2026, my goal is to stay true to myself and continue playing and releasing music that I genuinely love.
Favorite Release:
Personal: My album, of course, because it’s the project that reflects the most who I am. I was able to fully express myself without restrictions.
Another artist: Edo & THUR – All I Need. The melody, structure, and mix of this track are insane.

Ship Wrek
New Year’s Resolution:
Drop two EPs and a ton of singles, run a sub-four-hour marathon, travel to a new country we’ve never been to.
Favorite Release:
“I Don’t Trust A Soul,” because it was such an exciting moment and was sick to drop another collab with our bro Disco Lines.

Close Friends Only
New Year’s Resolution:
Our New Year’s resolution is to play more shows, remember to bring earplugs, and to stop losing headphones.
Favorite Moment (they couldn’t pick a favorite release):
Our favorite moment of the year was having the opportunity to go on tour with Deorro. Been a blast previewing new music at these shows.
