Chrysalis Music Festival will see Empire of the Sun and as-yet-unnanounced acts perform across three days at Iskali Gardens in San José del Cabo, Mexico.
Empire of the Sun are following in the footsteps of the Excisions and ODESZAs of the world by leveraging their celebrity to throw a large-scale gathering. It goes by the name Chrysalis Music Festival, and it runs from May 14-16, 2026 at Hotel El Ganzo‘s Izkali Gardens venue in San José del Cabo, Mexico.
Who, pray tell, will be performing there? Empire of the Sun, obviously — and three times, presumably once each day — but the remaining lineup has yet to be announced. For now, the “Alive” hitmakers have shared little more than the creative musings that inspired the direction of the event.
“The festival’s story focuses on the circle of symbols: the door, the egg, key, wings and bell,” according to Luke Steele, one half of Empire of the Sun. “It’s in the Chrysalis that these symbols communicate to us like a secret language: The Door, the threshold. The Key, the revelation. The Bell, awakening. Wings, the future self and The Egg, beginnings. It’s about creating a journey through music, art and spirit. In a world that is overflowing with distortion, it’s time to let yourself be carried away.”
Steele formed Empire of the Sun alongside Nick Littlemore in 2007. The Australian duo released their first album, Walking on a Dream, the following year, including international smash hit “We Are The People.” Steele and Littlemore have released three albums since, the most recent of which was 2024’s Ask That God.
Presale goes live on Thursday, November 20 at 12pm PT, with the general on-sale following the next day. Sign up for updates via Laylo.
