“In Another Life” portrays a love that transcends time and space. What inspired the story behind the track, and how did the collaboration with Julian, MVNA, and Chris Crone come about?
Thanks for the kind words on our new single! You described the song exactly how we hoped it would resonate with listeners. True love doesn’t have time or space, and we wanted to express that through melodies and those amazing vocals. It’s meant to take you to a place where time doesn’t matter. Hopefully, it’s one of those tracks people want to play again and again.
I came across the talented Julian on TikTok, and he was doing really well. From there, I contacted him, we started working on “In Another Life,” and it grew into what it is now. The incredible vocals were written and performed by MVNA and Chris Crone. Without them, the song wouldn’t be what it became.
Compared to your previous work in big room and contemporary dance music, “In Another Life” leans more into melodic house. How did you approach crafting the melodies and vocal elements for this track, and what was your creative process like?
I feel that the older I get, the more I appreciate the art of emotion through melody. That’s one of the main reasons this song is much more melodic. The impact isn’t in loud, screechy leads or punchy kicks anymore; it’s in the beauty of melodies working together with the right vocals.
How has this switch in production style allowed you to express yourself differently as an artist, both in the studio and on stage?
That’s exactly why I try to involve songwriters in almost every record now. I want to get the most out of a song, not just production-wise, but emotionally. Working closely with vocalists and songwriters helps me find those key elements that make a track feel like it’s coming straight from the heart.

Looking back at your incredible journey, you’ve achieved so much as a trailblazer in the scene. From the release of Epic in 2011 to performing at festivals like Tomorrowland and Ultra, what experiences have shaped your path and left the biggest impact?
I’m really grateful to have made an impact; it’s something I dreamed about as a kid, making music in my parents’ bedroom at ten years old. My first EDC performance in 2011, right after Diplo, was something I’ll never forget. It was my first big show in the U.S., during my first North American tour. Seeing that massive crowd numbed me for a second, but once I started playing, I was covered in goosebumps. That moment is definitely one for the books.
Speaking of new directions, your EP New Light is set for release at the end of January, which is super exciting! Can you share the inspiration behind the project and the story you want to tell with it?
Super excited about this one! “New Light” is really special to me because it’s inspired by becoming a dad for the first time and having a baby boy this December. We worked with some really big names on this EP, which makes it extra special. Each track has its own vibe, but they all complement each other beautifully.
And a big congratulations on becoming a father! How has this new chapter in your life influenced your approach to music, your performances, or the projects you choose to take on?
Thank you! I feel much more relaxed now, and that’s reflected in my music. My focus is on creating records that aren’t just made for the big stages, but pieces of art. Songs with emotion and a message. I’m also not touring at the moment, so life isn’t as fast paced. That’s given me more time to spend on making music from a different angle, and not only from the “live on stage” perspective.
Finally, looking ahead into 2026, can you give us a sneak peek into what’s next for you beyond “New Light”? Are there any exciting collaborations, tours, or festival appearances fans should keep an eye out for?
We’re already working on a bunch of new music to follow “New Light.” Hopefully, I’ll be able to tease some of it on my socials soon, so definitely keep an eye out!
