Hailing from the Big Apple, DJ and producer B/AN/K stopped by to chat about his origin story, his recent release on Experts Only, and more.

Tech house newcomer B/AN/K has captured the attention of some of house music’s largest producers over the last two years. From landing a booking alongside Mau P to supporting John Summit at his 2023 BMO Stadium after party, the budding artist has seemingly been collecting infinity stones of the dance music world.

Throughout 2025, B/AN/K has grown upon the foundation he has laid, adding to his rather impressive resume. Starting the year with a release on Insomniac‘s IN/ROTATION label, the producer continued to grind, landing his first major collaboration with MEDUZA. Their joint edit of Toman’s “Verano En NY” was played out by the tectonic trio on Tomorrowland‘s coveted Mainstage, adding another insane accomplishment to B/AN/K’s growing list of achievements.

Hot off his latest milestone performance, B/AN/K dropped by to discuss his entry into electronic music, opening for John Summit’s largest show to date, and how his NYC roots lend to his musical stylings. Be sure to stream his exclusive mix and read along for the inside scoop on the rising DJ.

Your journey as a DJ started in your early teens. What sparked you to start learning how to control the decks and explore electronic music?

My interest in becoming a DJ probably began when I first fell in love with EDM. I still remember some of the initial tracks I listened to by Kaskade and deadmau5, and how I’d blast “Ghosts ’n’ Stuff” on my headphones while playing video games. Even though I make tech house now, ironically, dubstep was another genre that really inspired me to become a DJ. The one track that stands out the most was Modestep’s “Sunlight.”

At what point did music production enter the picture, leading to the creation of your project, B/AN/K?

In 2019, after talking with a few friends at the time. They all told me the same thing: that DJing alone isn’t enough to get you booked or reach your goals. At the end of the day, DJing is the performance, but production is where the real art happens. So during my first year of college, I decided to start producing music.

You recently performed at John Summit’s largest headline show. What was it like being able to open for him during one of his biggest career milestones?

[Opening for John Summit at Folsom Field] was an incredible experience. Being able to perform on John’s biggest night meant everything to me; he’s the person who helped me become an established name in the industry, and I still look up to him to this day. Not only was it a massive moment for John, but for me as well, as it was my first stadium show. They told me the final count for the night was roughly 7,300 attendees after finishing my set.

Since your appearance at Summit’s Folsom Field event marked your fourth performance as a DJ, how did you go about creating a set that would connect with the audience and energy of the venue?

I was working with a short time slot, so I knew I had to trust my gut. I reached out to some producers I really like and asked for their IDs. In the end, about 90% of my set was made up of unreleased tracks from myself and other artists. I also threw in a few songs people would recognize but haven’t heard in a while. Overall, I wanted to deliver a groovy, hard-hitting set that showcased both my taste in music and what I’ve been cooking up in the studio.

You’ve had quite the journey with Summit — from moderating his Discord to releasing a track on his Experts Only label. How did the opportunity to release “AK STRAIGHT” on his Excursions series come about?

I’ve known John for a while through Discord, and over the years, we’ve slowly gotten closer. I’ve sent him countless demos —sometimes in person on a USB drive, other times via DM on X. Ultimately, it’s thanks to his feedback that I’ve improved so much as a producer.

I’ve always had the goal of becoming an Experts Only artist, and John’s support has been a big part of that journey. One thing people don’t always realize is just how hard he works and how much he genuinely cares about helping others.

You’ve also landed releases on Insomniac’s label, IN/ROTATION. What has pitching your music to labels taught you about your production style and how to stand out amongst the crowd?

Social media and the fact that you have to take risks and be unique play a huge role. A lot of artists today just follow trends, and sure, that might get you a few signings, but at the end of the day, all the influential artists have something unique that sets them apart. In my case, I’ve always tried to do things differently from what everyone else is doing.

Being based in NYC, how has the city’s vibrant music scene influenced your sound?

The thing about New York City, where every neighborhood has its own culture, is how diverse it is—especially being from Queens. This diversity also applies to music. There are so many talented producers here that every genre ends up influencing my sound in some way. For example, lately I’ve been experimenting with adding dubstep elements into my tech house tracks.

As you continue progressing in your career, do you have any bucket list goals motivating you to continue on your journey?

I see my journey as having two different sides: music production and DJing. On the production side, my goal for next year is to release more music and hopefully drop an EP. In the long run, I’d love to create a full album and collaborate with incredible vocalists from around the world.

As for DJing, my biggest dream is to one day play at Tomorrowland. Ever since I was young, watching the aftermovies has been a huge source of inspiration, and one of the main reasons I wanted to become a DJ in the first place.
