John Summit brought a loaded lineup and top-notch production to a massive crowd of 50,000 people at Folsom Field in Boulder.
No matter how you feel about him, the impact and growth that John Summit has had in the electronic music scene in recent years is undeniable. From constantly releasing smash hits on his Experts Only label to hosting his own Experts Only Festival in New York City this past September, Summit has established himself as one of, if not the biggest name, in the game currently.
As far as headline shows go, he’s had some massive ones, like selling out the iconic Madison Square Garden, a historic milestone for electronic music. In Colorado, he sold out Red Rocks in 2023 and followed it up in 2024 with a huge show at Civic Center Park in Denver, but he had something bigger and better in store for 2025.
This year, Summit decided to take it to the next level by playing the biggest headline show of his career at Folsom Field in Boulder. Folsom Field’s capacity is 50,000, which is over twice that then the capacity of Madison Square Garden, which holds 19,500. I was eager to see what he had in store for the largest show of his career, and in some ways, not so eager for the Boulder crowd, but I was about to be pleasantly surprised in many ways with a phenomenal night in Boulder.

The beautiful venue and loaded support lineup set the tone for the night.
Upon arriving at the University of Colorado Boulder campus, I was immediately greeted by breathtaking mountain views in the distance. While Boulder is a little out of the way like Red Rocks, the beautiful campus made it well worth it in my opinion. I arrived shortly after the doors opened, so getting through security was a breeze. Inside the stadium, there were plenty of bathrooms and concessions all around.
The seating arrangements for the show consisted of GA Bowl, GA Floor, and GA sidelines. My seats were in the GA sideline section, which I was quite happy with because I was close to the stage, and I didn’t have to fight for a spot on the floor. The stacked support lineup alone piqued my interest for this show and consisted of B/AN/K, Roddy Lima, Max Styler, and Tchami. B/AN/K was playing when I got to my seats, and he established the vibes early, and Roddy Lima followed it up with an electric set.
Max Styler gets better every time I see him, and I was thrilled that the bass was absolutely bumping when “London’s On Fire” played, which was the song of the Summer for me. Tchami also threw down a fantastic set filled with groovy, deep-cutting basslines, and it’s always a pleasure to hear his bangers live, like “Praise,” “The Calling,” “Adieu,” and more. It was a treat to have him as the show’s special guest, as I hadn’t seen a set from him in almost two years, and he delivered in every way. When he played D.O.D‘s “Sweet Nothing” edit near the end of his set, it had the crowd’s spirits sky high and ready for the main event.

John Summit’s set had special surprises and some of the best production I’ve experienced.
When it was finally time for everyone’s favorite accountant-turned-DJ to take the stage, you could feel the excitement buzzing all around the stadium. When John Summit walked out to the decks, he let out an iconic “BOULDER HOW TF WE FEELING BABY!”, and the crowd roared as he started his set with a filthy remix of Fallon’s “Diet Coke.” The fireworks and pyrotechnics that shot up into the night sky let me know instantly what kind of production we were going to witness on brisk Saturday night in Boulder.
He never let off the gas on the production or music all night, putting together an insanely electric and diverse set that made me gain a lot of respect for him. John Summit’s transitions from his hit songs like “Trip” and “Is Everybody Having Fun?” to new IDs were seamless, keeping the crowd dancing all night. As an added surprise, he brought out CLOVES to sing the vocals during “Focus” early in his set, and when he played his “Sweet Disposition” remix, you could feel the happy emotions in the crowd.
John Summit had some tricks up his sleeve for the set, debuting a new remix that he and Wooli worked on of Rihanna‘s “Where Have You Been,” adding a nice dose of dubstep to the set. One of my favorite moments of the set was when he played a remix of Daft Punk‘s “Veridis Quo,” which I consider one of the greatest electronic music tracks of all time. He also wasn’t done with the surprises, bringing out HAYLA to sing the vocals for his famous “Where You Are,” which had the entire stadium singing word-for-word.
He also turned the energy up to the max when he transitioned his “Silence” remix to a drum and bass remix with Dimension. Near the end of the set, he kept the vibes high with “What a Life,” one of my favorite songs of his, and that alone made my night. When he played “Go Back,” I was sure that it would be the last song of the night, but he wanted to keep the party going by bringing out Hayla one more time to sing for “Shiver,” and then a GRiZ remix of “Where You Are,” to end the magical night.

John Summit showed why he’s at the top right now with his show at Folsom Field.
John Summit put on a fantastic, energetic, emotional set that displayed his growth as both a DJ and producer. I’ve never been a part of a crowd that large at a show that sang every single word of every song all through the night. I also had no problem with the crowd where I was sitting, which was a welcome surprise to me, as I had some rough experiences with Summit crowds in the past.
While I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest John Summit fan in the world, I gained a ton of respect for him from this show, and it was one of my favorite shows of the year. It was also my favorite solo set I’ve ever seen from him. His ability to mix tech house heaters and other genres with beautiful melodic vocals is unmatched, creating a truly can’t-miss experience. The production was also fantastic from start to finish, and his team deserves every bit of credit.
My take is, don’t listen to what social media has to say about him and his crowds. Go with an open mind and experience him for yourself, because you might just be as pleasantly surprised as I was and experience something truly magical.
