Moneyjaw is getting everyone grooving this fall with a mix that’s filled to the brim with club-ready house tunes that showcase his curation when hopping behind the decks.
Thomas Sahs has spent decades delving deep into the underground scene. The Texas-born, Los Angeles-based DJ and producer has done seemingly everything under the sun sonically during this time, from launching the live-electronic hip-hop-infused Honey Claws project to exploring different realms through projects like Chrome Friends. Now, he’s set his focus on a newfound house music alias that’s beginning to gain some momentum, Moneyjaw.
Moneyjaw first surfaced in the scene a year ago with its unique blend of bass and house music elements in tow. Early releases were defined by their deeper house soundscapes, while this year saw him make a splash by dropping three fresh collaborations with ZEALE that dipped into the bass house side of the spectrum. Their first two tunes, “Adderall” and “Imposter,” put their stripped-back, vocal-driven style front and center, setting the tone for more recent releases. “Vision” and “Go!,” which arrived in the midst of the summer months, continued this path, making it ever more clear that Moneyjaw is a project that house lovers should keep their ears tuned to.
Now, as the chilly months begin to take hold, Moneyjaw is keeping everyone warm inside with his tight production and smart sampling. To showcase the direction of this fresh project, he spun a mix for our Fall Frequencies series. Found inside the hour-long mix are curated tunes from the likes of Chris Lake, Cour T., Mita Gami, The Presets, The Subs, Catz N Dogz, and more, along with his tune, “Unity.”
