Through innovation, education, and community, the Nighttime Foundation aims to empower those shaping the future of nightlife and foster a more resilient ecosystem.
Behind every thriving city are the people who make it happen. From venue owners, DJs, and performers to the audience and communities that bring the night to life, these are the individuals shaping the identity of the night. Beyond entertainment, nightlife reflects a city’s culture, identity, and value within the broader ecosystem. As rising temperatures prompt more activities to shift to the evening, many cities continue to struggle with adapting their urban planning and governance. That’s why the launch of the Nighttime Foundation as a global non-profit, born from VibeLab’s advocacy work, is so timely and important in today’s rapidly changing world.
The Nighttime Foundation is committed to strengthening and enhancing the vibrant ecosystem that supports nightlife through three pillars: innovation, education, and community. To empower creators, policymakers, and community leaders alike, the foundation aims to ensure that the people behind the night have the capability and agency to shape its future. Its board includes industry leaders with diverse expertise and global networks, such as Chair Dr. Anna-Marazuela Kim, Treasurer Georgia McDonnell-Adams, and Secretary Kae Burke, who is also the co-founder of House of Yes nightclub in New York City, and Head of Projects Kerronia Thomas.
Nightlife is a powerful lens on the kind of cities we want to build—bold, connected, and alive. With the Nighttime Foundation, we have a chance to put nightlife where it belongs: at the heart of urban life, recognised as culture in its own right and essential to thriving communities.
Dr. Anna-Marazuela Kim, Chair. of Nighttime Foundation
One of the foundation’s key goals is to support local pilot initiatives. This ground-up approach enriches the global understanding of nightlife and, in turn, sparks creative solutions in urban policy. It’s a reminder that success depends on collective effort, starting with the people and communities in your own neighborhood. After all, nightlife is more than just getting people to stay out late; it’s a reminder that culture, sounds, and ideas continue to be alive long after dark.
You can get involved by supporting the Nighttime Foundation through a donation or by completing its global survey to help the organization ensure that every voice is heard. Together, communities around the world can safeguard their nightlife culture and preserve its future.
