Dirtybird CampINN attendees arrived at the hotel to find that they needed to accept large holds on their cards due to a late payment from Home Bass.
Home Bass, a co-promoter of Dirtybird CampINN, was late paying the Doubletree by Hilton in Orlando ahead of the festival, leading the hotel to put temporary holds of over $1,000, in some cases, on the payment methods of attendees whose all-inclusive tickets were supposed to cover lodging.
In a number of online forums, attendees reported learning about the large holds when they arrived at the hotel during the event, which ran from August 29 – September 2. “2k for room and tickets, just to be charged 1k at the hotel because Dirtybird CampINN didn’t pay their hotel,” wrote one.
“We were told at check in there would be a hold until Home Bass paid later that week,” wrote another. “We were charged that hold when Home Bass failed to pay. People planned for months around this festival. Lucky for some, credit card companies will take care of the fraudulent festival charges.”
Earlier today, September 2, Dirtybird CampINN addressed what happened in a statement. “This year, our venue partner, the Doubletree by Hilton, required full advance payment for the property,” reads a passage. “Due to slower-than-expected room & ticket sales, our payment timeline was delayed. However, we’ve now fulfilled all obligations in full.”
According to the statement, all guests will receive a refund directly from the hotel within two to five days. But organizers’ failure to properly warn attendees of the holds in advance may have soured longtime supporters on coming back.
“How about next time you communicate proactively instead of waiting until the event to do damage control?” wrote one commenter. “You all left everyone wondering wtf was going on without even publicly acknowledging the situation.”
“Been going downhill for a while and I know you lost a lot of fans, respect, loyalty, and much more over this nonsense,” argued another. “I bet people’s bills got late payments due to the holds. I’d be furious.”
The organizers of Dirtybird CampINN have yet to announce its 2026 edition at the time of writing.
