Fight at Ozora Festival Leaves 2 Hospitalized, 1 with Life-Threatening Stab Wounds

After two Israeli men reportedly ended up in an altercation at Ozora Festival, one was treated for life-threatening injuries.

During Ozora Festival in Dádpuszta, Hungary on Saturday, a fight broke out between two Israeli men that left both of them injured, one with life-threatening stab wounds.

According to local reports, the altercation followed a verbal dispute and led to one of the men, a 26-year-old, being stabbed multiple times by the other, a 28-year-old. The former man was airlifted to a hospital in the nearby city of Pécs, where he is now in stable condition after receiving treatment. The latter suffered unspecified injuries and detained by festival security before being arrested by the police and then also hospitalized.

Local authorities are investigating the incident but had not identified what caused the fight at the time of local reports. The man in custody is apparently known to the police, who have moved to extend his detention while they look into the matter.

Ozora Festival is focused on psytrance, a genre popular among Israelis ever since it evolved out of Goa trance in the ’90s. Hungary itself is one of Israel’s closest allies, having banned the UK hip-hop group Kneecap from performing there due to their criticisms of Israel amid its ongoing war with Palestine.

The past two years of intense conflict between Israel and Palestine started with the latter country’s attack on another psytrance festival, Tribe Of Nova’s Supernova event that took place three miles from the Gaza border in October 2023. Recently, two Israeli soldiers were also briefly detained after flying an IDF flag at Belgian EDM festival Tomorrowland.

Ozora Festival’s organizers have not addressed the incident in an official statement at the time of writing. EDM Identity has reached out to the festival brand for comment.
