Anyma’s quest to bring melodic techno to the masses has led him to enlist Travis Scott for his upcoming event at [UNVRS].
There’s no denying that melodic techno has changed due to the influence of Anyma, whose Afterlife label and event brand has expanded the genre’s commercial appeal by introducing cinematic story elements. He nonetheless caught fans off guard when he announced US rapper Travis Scott as the guest for the next installment of his residency at Ibiza club [UNVRS] tonight, August 5.
It remains to be seen what exactly Travis Scott’s appearance will entail. Previously, Anyma (real name Matteo Milleri) has brought once unlikely collaborators like Solomun and Tiësto on stage with him, especially during his run of New Year’s shows at the Sphere outside Las Vegas.
Travis Scott isn’t the only other artist on the lineup. Belgian DJ and producer Amelie Lens is also slated to perform, and the fine line she walks between accessible and challenging styles of techno will undoubtedly offer a fitting counterbalance for Milleri’s signature fare. Ditto for Recondite, a German artist whose deeper style has historically resonated with the genre’s more discerning fan base.
Milleri originally came up as one half of the duo Tale of Us alongside fellow Italian DJ and producer Carmine Conte. Their Afterlife imprint had cemented itself as a fixture of melodic techno prior to the pandemic. Afterward, however, it helped set a new standard for visuals and production whose influence can be felt in events throughout the dance music ecosystem.
All of this makes [UNVRS] the perfect venue for Milleri’s Anyma residency. Having opened ahead of the 2025 season, the “hyperclub” is the brainchild of Yan Pissenem‘s The Night League nightlife brand, which famously concocted White Isle staples like Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza.
Tickets to Anyma’s [UNVRS] event featuring Travis Scott, Amelie Lens, and Recondite are on sale now via Clubtickets.
