Over one thousand lasers lit up Johan Cruijff ArenA during the final edition of Verknipt ArenA, breaking the Guinness World Record along the way.
Verknipt has stood tall as one of the most forward-thinking brands in the techno scene. The past few years have seen their events expand into new territories around Europe and the rest of the world, bringing the energetic sounds of hard techno with them. Verknipt ArenA, the brand’s edition in Amsterdam, also became one of the most beloved during this time. Unfortunately, this year’s event would be the last at Johan Cruijff ArenA, but the Verknipt team had plans to go out with quite a bang.
While the hard techno sets at Verknipt ArenA were the biggest draw for the one-night affair, there was something special that their team had planned – an attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Laser Show. On Sunday, July 20, they executed their plan and dazzled the minds of the 40,000 people in attendance with a choreographed show that brought forth an explosion of color, emotion, and unity.
We didn’t just break a world record, we’ve written history. The energy in the ArenA was indescribable during the special 10-minute Verknipt Experience show: happiness, excitement, but also deep emotion as we closed this final chapter. This wasn’t just a show, it was a shared moment of connection we’ll carry with us forever.
The Verknipt Team
The show at Verknipt ArenA featured 1,100 custom-rigged lasers that complemented the 360° stage design, providing an intimate experience. This topped the previous title-holder, Dubai Racing Club, which hosted a show featuring 824 lasers in 2021.
Aside from the ten-minute laser show, Verknipt ArenA featured an impressive performance from Nico Moreno as well as a slew of back-to-back sets that brought artists like Basswell and Onlynumbers, DYEN and Fantasm, Cynthia Spiering and Paul Elstak, and more to the stage.
